Afternoon in the Garden

July 25, 2012 · 5 Comments

Afternoon in the Garden | Dreamery EventsToday was probably one of the most beautiful days this summer! I couldn’t help but just feel happy.  I took advantage of the day as soon as I woke up. One of the things on my summer list was to experience Montclair a little more. It’s such a historical, beautiful, hip, trendy, and active town, with new things popping up everywhere. Last week I went hiking at Mill’s Reservation, and today I decided I’d put on a light summer dress and go to the Van Vleck House and Garden. Although parts of the small garden were under construction and some of the flowers weren’t in bloom {or were dried out} it was still a relaxing afternoon. With my camera in tow, I walked around and took in the fresh air and gorgeous day. I thought about absolutely nothing, but just enjoying the moment.

I would love to have a large garden full of beautiful flowers, along with plenty of vegetables and fruits. This quaint little garden reminded so much of European gardens.

Afternoon in the Garden | Dreamery EventsHow cool are these leaves! I just love garden spray roses.

A patch of bees working hard to make honey…

This little spot is just quaint and lovely, and it’s a great retreat come springtime…

today was such a great day, especially here in Philly. The weather was amazing and I couldn’t help but walk outside just to be outside. Glad you did the same!

Days like today definitely make me miss working in Center City and taking a break to walk outside. Good to see you took advantage of it!

[…] RelayRides is a peer-to-peer car rental service, and with a shift to a sharing economy, RelayRides is making their mark for a greener lifestyle in a really great way. Instead of having another car on the road, you can borrow someone else’s. They offer great deals for someone who simply needs the means to pick up a large piece of furniture, or is on a weekend getaway. In my opinion, the best part of RelayRides is that you’re getting to know the people in the community, and when in a new city, what’s better than forming a relationship with locals. Plus, they’ll know firsthand what hidden gems are worth the discovery! One of my hometown gems, and favorite towns, is Montclair. From museums, to great restaurants, boutique shops, and not to mention the amazing rows of homes, you’ll find so many lovely places in just one block. For a curious eye, like mine, anyone will enjoy a simple walk on the busy streets with shops and restaurants a plenty, and it’s where I’m often inspired. The first hometown gem I discovered in Montclair was the Van Vleck House and Gardens, and since then it has become one of my favorite places to spend a spring afternoon. […]

This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chriss This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chrissyteigen recipe wouldn’t be considered traditional but it does celebrate the beautiful Thai flavors I love. I’ll take all the spice & lemongrass please🍜😋!! It’s certainly become a staple of mine, one I’ve recreated several times & I highly recommend you save in your back pocket because it will leave you craving more...& more!!

I used to post lots of recipes on the blog ‘til weddings/events/design took center stage & hoping to do so more again. Get this recipe on the blog now!
I read something yesterday, that made me instantly I read something yesterday, that made me instantly stop & reflect..."Some people think that having Hope makes you naive, but in my mind, it's so much harder to choose Hope over being angry or frustrated..." As someone who considers herself quite a hopeful person, I've had this on my mind since. Let's not confuse Hope w. toxic positivity {in which negative feelings or hardships are pushed aside}, when there is Hope, we still acknowledge our worries, the drawbacks of life, the sadness but still know that there is good.

We've all been doing our best nearing a year into this pandemic; the lives lost, families broken, the uncertain long-term issues, jobs, livelihoods disrupted & most recently too many people to count, struggling after a natural disaster. My heart breaks & is w. all of you, but despite the darkness, what I've also seen during these trying times...is Hope & Love. Communities & strangers coming together to help one another however way they can, even when they too are struggling to get by. That right there, is Hope. Be gentle with yourself, be gentle w. those around you. We’re all doing the best we can🤍
