Holiday Inspiration {Gift Wrapping}

Now that the tree has been put up, and the apartment has been trimmed {how to post soon to come} and most of my Christmas gifts already bought, it’s time to get inspired with some gift wrapping ideas. I’ve put some extra thought into the gifts I got my loved ones this year, and it’s only fitting that I put some tender loving care into wrapping them. It’s always so much more special when you put the effort in making something look beautiful, even if it is meant to be ripped open. It’s all about presentation! I find myself drawn to rustic nature touches, one that remind you of Christmas’ long long ago, when it wasn’t such a commercialized holiday. I love the idea of using items right outside your doorway to create this pine cone topper or leaf wreath. Create handmade rustic wreaths or natural toppers from old decorations you may have lying around the house. PicMonkey Collage

I also can’t help but love a vintage snowflake or elegant and white wrapping as pretty as fresh fallen snow. This versatile kraft paper is perfect for creating a silver and gold look. PicMonkey Collage

Of course not all our loved ones prefer an elegant or rustic holiday look, which makes these lovely bows, gold dots and chevron pattern, and pop of fuchsia festive for all ages.

These bags will be the perfect carrier for all the baked goods I plan to share this holiday.

PicMonkey CollageThe final touch on your beautifully wrapped gifts are labels. Say it with cheer, fun rustic colors, or go traditional with these wood type labels.

Happy Wrapping!

It must be something I inherited from my grandfather, but I enjoy wrapping gifts. Which is why I’m given them all to do.

[…] I’m currently watching The National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, one of my dad’s all time favorites, and I’m wondering where my motivation and inspiration to write has been. The reality is, I’ve checked out…not in a bad way. More like a 5 year old little girl lost in a Christmas dream of fa la la la-ing, watching The Polar Express as many times as possible, twinkling lights, and pretty wrappings. […]

Physically, I’ve been here on this foggy & rainy Physically, I’ve been here on this foggy & rainy Sunday ... Mentally, I’m sailing along Porto’s Douro River feeling the warm golden hour sun, the bustling winds & picturesque sights⛵️

If you want to go on a little mental trip w. me, head over to the the Blog to read more about my lovely sailing trip in Porto. Sailing is one of my favorite ways to explore a city🤍🌊
Always embracing the subtle beauty that saturates Always embracing the subtle beauty that saturates the simple things🤍

I’ve found the less I share on social media the more authenticity thrives. The ever-dream & idea filled mind grows & flourishes. It’s been comforting knowing that other creatives I’ve admired for years, both event related & not, have in part felt the same. When one creative outlet was paused, the other creative ideas that had been hibernating in the mind, quietly waiting for their time, began to shine brighter & brighter. Yes, it’s been comforting feeling that commonality in change & perspective...

But the one thing that’s never changed for me, is celebrating the beauty in the simple things. Giving a new home, a new form of life to a simple treasure. Those subtle everyday moments that are beyond inspiring...

“I’m in no hurry; the sun & the moon aren’t, “I’m in no hurry;
the sun & the moon aren’t, either.
Nobody goes faster
than the legs they have.
If where I want to go is far away,
I’m not there in an instant.

I’m in no hurry. What for?
The sun & moon aren’t in a hurry: they’re right.
Hurrying is believing people
can get past their legs,
or that, jumping, they can land
past their shadow.
No; I don’t know how to hurry.
If I stretch out my arm,
I get exactly where my arm gets --
not even a centimeter farther.
I only touch where I touch,
not where I think.
I can only sit down where I am.
& that’s funny, like all really true truths,
but what’s really funny
is that we’re always thinking something else
& we live absent from our reality.
& we’re always outside it because we’re here.

Não, não sei ter pressa.” -- Fernando Pessoa

I've come to realize that my path is a slower one, albeit scenic, but slower. So when time feels like it's whirling by faster than a blink, like March felt, at least for me, it certainly makes me feel a bit on edge. Anyone else?

But I'm reminded of the sun,
the garden, the bees & the blooms,
how their slowness welcomes full
& brighter days ahead🌿
