Tasting Tucson {Thunder Canyon Brewery}

February 20, 2013 · Leave a Comment

IMG_6586Thunder Canyon Brewery has just recently opened in downtown Tucson, and already I’ve been there twice. Clearly a good sign! I love any place that serves up local fresh ingredients in light and comforting ways, alongside a in-house brewed beer, all while watching your favorite sports game. No that’s what I call my kind of hangout spot. TCB prides itself on offering a variety of gourmet style pubfare. Whether it’s to watch the hockey game, an anniversary or celebrating a birthday with the family, Thunder Canyon Brewery is one to consider!

IMG_6592I recommend my favorite the Deep Canyon Ale, a flavor combination much that of a Yuengling/Blue Moon/Apricot Ale, if you’re looking for a beer to end your meal on a sweet note I’d go with Bees N’ BerryIMG_6596I’ve gained a new found appreciation for a good glass of beer after a summer spent in beer gardens, so it’s great to be out west  where the use of local ingredients is important and makes a whole lot of a difference, especially when it comes to the flavor of an aleIMG_6608Brew House Pretzels that reminded me of summer days working in Philadelphia paired with a Jalapeno Cheese Dip, that needs just a tad bit more fire for our spicy tastebuds. This would be a great accompaniment with a sampling of TCB’s top brews. IMG_6600You can’t go wrong with a Buenodilla…a gooey melody of cheddar, mozzarella and green chiles. Move over grilled cheese, this is the ultimate comfort food Mexican styleIMG_6602These crispy, yet light Marana Mushrooms are one of our favorite options on the menu, especially since we learned the key to making the spicy “pale ale” batter pop is dipping these guilty pleasures in their house beer mustard {typically served with TCB’s pretzels}IMG_6605Now I can’t really say how the Catalina Fingers taste but they’re one of TCB’s popular menu options..these come a long way from the chicken fingers you grew up eatingIMG_6974the roommate was craving soup and the Thunder Canyon Brewery Pork Green Chili was the perfect twist on a classic IMG_6976sweet yet citrusy mandarin oranges and velvety goat cheese {which I chose to swap for the Bleu Cheese} on the Scottsdale salad were a refreshing pair along with my cold Deep Canyon Ale..best part of this salad were the giant sugar glazed walnut pieces!IMG_6971we all know where Brittany and I will be on Sundays…

We connect & interpret it in so many personal ways — some of us are drawn to the beauty in the soft muted tones, while others it’s the bright rich hues. Each view & approach, a special way of embracing color✨🌿🌈And I am here for all it!

“Ikebana; the Japanese art of flower arranging t “Ikebana; the Japanese art of flower arranging that emphasizes form & balance — symbolizing the beauty & essence of all components in Nature working in harmony. Ikebana expresses strong emotions through its four principles of a fresh approach, movement, balance & harmony, while highlighting its three elements; line, color & mass.

Ikebana designs use fewer stems that are intentionally arranged to reflect the balance of opposing elements. Ikebana floral art is a reflection of the person creating it & its evolving story.”

This year I’m challenging myself each month to create a design. Whether it be a centerpiece or tablescape, I want to expand & challenge my creativity, skills & ever-flowing ideas. It’s a perfect way for me to create for the sake of creating while inspiring you with joyful pieces & help others see unlikely designs with a new perspective.

I was naturally drawn to the traditional artform of Ikebana, for it takes the simplest elements & transforms them into designs that evoke an immense emotion. For me there is so much power & beauty in that, but also why I think it’s not as understood or appreciated as elaborate floral designs.

I stumbled upon this forgotten small blue & white dish, thought how perfect it would be to capture the story of “Winter Blues” — not the sadness of the bitter season, but the emotion of a fresh clean slate where Nature is bare, minimal & calm, yet open to all the possibilities of the unknown … using a few sprigs of Blue Thistle & the inspiration of Ikebana intentions, this tiny delight was made💙

Dreamery is a bespoke event and floral design brand focusing on gatherings of all sizes, stylings, home, decor and the limitless creative projects yet to be envisioned. Nature, travel, old world treasures & slow living are my constant inspiration.
