Can’t Live Without {What’s in my Purse}

May 9, 2013 · 1 Comment

I’ve been overdue for another post on the things I Can’t Live Without, this time I choose to feature something us ladies are far to familiar with…our purses. I’ve been told that I carry around a suitcase numerous times, but if the size didn’t already convince you, then you’ll agree with my friends after you see everything that I put in it. Here are my handbag essentials…what’s in yours?
Screen shot 2013-05-08 at 10.05.50 PMThe Caracas Sisal Tote by Calypso St. Barth’s is the perfect carry all for summer, and I love how it’s made of sea grass rather than the traditional straw. It might be a travel wallet but this is just the right sized everyday wallet, because it has the right amount of compartments for everything I carry, plus I love the tangerine color! I CANNOT live without my daily planner, I carry it everywhere I go. A pen is a necessity, and I also keep a zip drive on hand because of work.And of course you can’t forget the gum!Screen shot 2013-05-08 at 10.55.40 PMIn my little blue bag, I carry a nail file to fix a chipped nail, much-needed hand cream by L’Occitane, Boscia green tea blotting linens,  Tresemme Dry Shampoo, hair pins and ties, rewetting contact drops for my constant dry eyes, band aids, ibuprofen, and safety pins. I don’t usually do much to my lips aside from my absolutely favorite beauty product, Chapstick, but I do carry around a pink lipstick whenever I need to freshen up and add a pop of color to my lips, as well as my cheeks. If I had to describe myself in a scent, it would be White Musk, just one spritz wakes me up and puts me in a better mood. And of course I always carry a bottle of water with me and a piece of fruit or nuts, along with receipts, mail, coupons and random papers I accumulate throughout my day…

We connect & interpret it in so many personal ways — some of us are drawn to the beauty in the soft muted tones, while others it’s the bright rich hues. Each view & approach, a special way of embracing color✨🌿🌈And I am here for all it!

“Ikebana; the Japanese art of flower arranging t “Ikebana; the Japanese art of flower arranging that emphasizes form & balance — symbolizing the beauty & essence of all components in Nature working in harmony. Ikebana expresses strong emotions through its four principles of a fresh approach, movement, balance & harmony, while highlighting its three elements; line, color & mass.

Ikebana designs use fewer stems that are intentionally arranged to reflect the balance of opposing elements. Ikebana floral art is a reflection of the person creating it & its evolving story.”

This year I’m challenging myself each month to create a design. Whether it be a centerpiece or tablescape, I want to expand & challenge my creativity, skills & ever-flowing ideas. It’s a perfect way for me to create for the sake of creating while inspiring you with joyful pieces & help others see unlikely designs with a new perspective.

I was naturally drawn to the traditional artform of Ikebana, for it takes the simplest elements & transforms them into designs that evoke an immense emotion. For me there is so much power & beauty in that, but also why I think it’s not as understood or appreciated as elaborate floral designs.

I stumbled upon this forgotten small blue & white dish, thought how perfect it would be to capture the story of “Winter Blues” — not the sadness of the bitter season, but the emotion of a fresh clean slate where Nature is bare, minimal & calm, yet open to all the possibilities of the unknown … using a few sprigs of Blue Thistle & the inspiration of Ikebana intentions, this tiny delight was made💙

Dreamery is a bespoke event and floral design brand focusing on gatherings of all sizes, stylings, home, decor and the limitless creative projects yet to be envisioned. Nature, travel, old world treasures & slow living are my constant inspiration.
