Happy Summer

Oh it’s the sweet start of summer. The season we let go of all our worries, relax and revel in all the fun that summer has to offer. Barbecues and bonfires, s’mores, sailing beneath the sunshine, salty skin and sandy toes, baseball games, watching sunsets eating ice cream, and catching fire flies underneath the warm starry night sky…

I had to take a break at work yesterday, to change the background of my computer. It’s bad enough I don’t have windows in my office, I needed some form of sunshine. I found myself reading this post and reminiscing those same feelings I was facing this same season just last year. That lost of focus, uncertainty what my passion were and confused as to when and why I lost that fire within. Which is why I’ve started rereading The Passion Test. That’s the problem when too many things interest me, I’m not allocating my skills and purpose in the best way, which in turn is preventing me from achieving complete fulfillment and happiness. We all go through our funks, but I’m committed to myself and dedicated into make choices that allow me to live the life I want.

This past week, it’s as if the universe was encouraging me to snap myself out it and take control once again. Life has a funny way of making things happen, from stumbling upon motivating posts like this or helpful tips on how to manage stress. I’ve started to feel just absolutely happy for no reason again, the let loose and dance in your underwear kinda feeling {too much, I know but you know exactly what I mean}, and I definitely know it’s because I’ll be going home in two weeks. It’s true when they say “you don’t know what you have until it’s gone or you don’t have it anymore”. It goes beyond missing weekly trips to swim in the ocean or walks through deep green parks with flowers far beyond the eye can see, it’s getting to be with my family and best friends who I have shared so many unforgettable memories throughout the years this season. But I’m not looking at it in a sad way as if I’m missing out. I have the opportunity to create new summer memories with new friends in a new city, and still have the chance to go home to celebrate summer with the people I love the most.

If I could picture my summer, these images would say it all. I decided to create a vision board, because “When you are clear, what you want will show up in life, and only to the extent that your are clear.” – The Passion Test

So, this summer I plan to…

  1. Get playful and smile everyday {image}
  2. Walk on the grass and have a picnic in the park, even though I don’t see that happening anytime soon in this Tucson heat
  3. Continue last summer’s I Scream for Ice Scream series. I plan on making this honey-yogurt semi-freddo next
  4. Experience more pacific coast beaches, If not, boating and fishing is a must! Summer isn’t summer without enjoying it in the water.
  5. Be more kind to my garden and read up on Southwest gardening.
  6. Learn to play “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” on my ukulele. I promise to myself that it is going to happen! {image}
  7. Go to a concert or music festival
  8. Begin training for a competitive race and wake up with my favorite yoga stretches

  1. Be surrounded by bright flowers
  2. Savor the season’s freshest fruits, like a chilled watermelon
  3. Embrace an effortless, yet exotic summer style
  4. Enjoy doing nothing
  5. Make more paleo and clean eating inspired meals
  6. Get culture. Go to a museum/gallery. Go to an outdoor festival {image}

  1. I want to embrace nature more and walk through a field of flowers
  2. Take more hikes, stand atop a mountain and be amazed
  3. Enjoy every meal outside
  4. Make more summer pies, this cherry galette has inspired a dessert for the 4th of July
  5. Watch more sunsets {image}
  6. Find beauty in the little things all around me {image}
  7. Get creatively inspired again, dedicate myself more to The Dreamery!

Here’s to a great Summer for all!

This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chriss This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chrissyteigen recipe wouldn’t be considered traditional but it does celebrate the beautiful Thai flavors I love. I’ll take all the spice & lemongrass please🍜😋!! It’s certainly become a staple of mine, one I’ve recreated several times & I highly recommend you save in your back pocket because it will leave you craving more...& more!!

I used to post lots of recipes on the blog ‘til weddings/events/design took center stage & hoping to do so more again. Get this recipe on the blog now!
I read something yesterday, that made me instantly I read something yesterday, that made me instantly stop & reflect..."Some people think that having Hope makes you naive, but in my mind, it's so much harder to choose Hope over being angry or frustrated..." As someone who considers herself quite a hopeful person, I've had this on my mind since. Let's not confuse Hope w. toxic positivity {in which negative feelings or hardships are pushed aside}, when there is Hope, we still acknowledge our worries, the drawbacks of life, the sadness but still know that there is good.

We've all been doing our best nearing a year into this pandemic; the lives lost, families broken, the uncertain long-term issues, jobs, livelihoods disrupted & most recently too many people to count, struggling after a natural disaster. My heart breaks & is w. all of you, but despite the darkness, what I've also seen during these trying times...is Hope & Love. Communities & strangers coming together to help one another however way they can, even when they too are struggling to get by. That right there, is Hope. Be gentle with yourself, be gentle w. those around you. We’re all doing the best we can🤍
