Cupid’s Arrow Place Cards

February 6, 2014 · 1 Comment

IMG_3261The age-old story tells us of Cupid, who would shoot his iconic arrow on those looking for love on Valentine’s Day. Although, we know it as a cute story, I did want to incorporate the symbolic arrow of love in my Valentine’s Day tabletop. These arrows are fun and festive, and so simple to make. I placed my Cupid’s arrows through each guests’ baked Alaska, but these would just be as lovely atop each plate, or used throughout your home as decor. I made a few extra with just a simple glittered heart at the top, then bunched them together in a small clear vase for a lovely touch.IMG_3285 IMG_3344

You’ll Need:

  • Painted Wooden Skewers {I used Krylon spray paint in Ballet Slipper}
  • Pink and Red small paper cut outs {for one arrow you’ll need 2 pink hearts & 4 red hearts}
  • Scissors
  • Mod Podge {Elmer’s glue works well too}
  • Loose Gold Glitter
  • Double Sided Tape

IMG_3233 IMG_3239Place one pink heart with point edge, on the end of one skewer, and brush with mod podge. Place the second pink heart right above. Allow each to dry completely, I waited about 15 to 2o minutes for mine. For simple glittered hearts, glue the small heart with the point facing the skewer, so it looks like a heart on a stick. IMG_3245Brush both sides of the hearts with mod podge, making sure to completely cover the paper. Sprinkle glitter atop, shaking excess off and repeat with other side. Again, allow to dry completely, about 15 to 20 minutes. IMG_3247In the meantime, place a small piece of double-sided tape on one heart, and attach to the top of another slightly above the middle. Write the names of your guests on one side, before attaching onto the skewer. Place a piece of double-sided tape on the back of the written heart, where the skewer will be placed, point side facing down. Place small places of tape on the edges of the double hearts attached to the skewer, and place the piece atop. IMG_3287

Dreamery Headshot_2020

A Lover of Nature & Kindness, constantly smitten by the simple pleasures of life. Travel fills my soul with bliss & inspiration. Flowers are my weakness, a slice of homemade pie makes my heart sing. I love the outdoors & live for al fresco dinner parties, cozy candlelit romantic affairs with warm fires & blankets to share.

I dream about these things, it’s true. Yes, it’s all the small details in life that drive me & everything I do because we all deserve to celebrate every special moment in our lives…
