Friday Favorites

June 27, 2014 · Leave a Comment

Friday Favorites You couldn’t ask for a more perfect first week of summer, and way to end the work week that seemed to drag on. The sun is shining brightly over the Hudson River as boats sail by, and the desire to be outside is just too much for me to contain. Entering back into the corporate world hasn’t been easy, I’m still trying to balance my life between commuting to work in NYC, then having time, and energy, when I come home to get a workout in, make and eat dinner, and prep everything to do it all over again the next day. And somehow in those 3 hours or so of rushing, I still haven’t figured out how to fit in gardening, blogging, errands and much-needed time to just relax and live my own life. All I think about is the next time I will be able to venture outdoors, and not to the busy streets, but the tranquility of Central Park, even if it’s only for a mere hour. I know I’ll get the hang of it soon, at least I have to, because I’ll admit I feel this city is sucking the life out of me a bit. As if I’m losing a part of who am I because I don’t do daily things that make me happy, one of the biggest things which is writing on my blog. New York City is a beautiful thriving city, with so many new and exciting things to take upon, but the “always on the go” lifestyle just isn’t for me, which is why I’ve been devoting my weekends to doing things I want to do on my own terms and make me happy, including spending carefree time with loved ones and feeding my creativity. My life has been pretty busy lately, but it hasn’t been anything short of bright and happy. I’m getting a better grip of this lifestyle, so I can’t wait to share some lovely inspiration with you soon. Hope you enjoy the weekend, as for me, I’ll be recharging and getting salty at the beach and just being me! {image above}

This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chriss This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chrissyteigen recipe wouldn’t be considered traditional but it does celebrate the beautiful Thai flavors I love. I’ll take all the spice & lemongrass please🍜😋!! It’s certainly become a staple of mine, one I’ve recreated several times & I highly recommend you save in your back pocket because it will leave you craving more...& more!!

I used to post lots of recipes on the blog ‘til weddings/events/design took center stage & hoping to do so more again. Get this recipe on the blog now!
I read something yesterday, that made me instantly I read something yesterday, that made me instantly stop & reflect..."Some people think that having Hope makes you naive, but in my mind, it's so much harder to choose Hope over being angry or frustrated..." As someone who considers herself quite a hopeful person, I've had this on my mind since. Let's not confuse Hope w. toxic positivity {in which negative feelings or hardships are pushed aside}, when there is Hope, we still acknowledge our worries, the drawbacks of life, the sadness but still know that there is good.

We've all been doing our best nearing a year into this pandemic; the lives lost, families broken, the uncertain long-term issues, jobs, livelihoods disrupted & most recently too many people to count, struggling after a natural disaster. My heart breaks & is w. all of you, but despite the darkness, what I've also seen during these trying times...is Hope & Love. Communities & strangers coming together to help one another however way they can, even when they too are struggling to get by. That right there, is Hope. Be gentle with yourself, be gentle w. those around you. We’re all doing the best we can🤍
Finding it a bit hard to stay positive today…in Finding it a bit hard to stay positive today…in truth the state of our planet weighs heavily on me daily, but especially these last few days knowing that millions of people are struggling to have the basic necessities of staying warm & having running water in their own home. It’s baffling. But this is the sad reality that we have created as humans. Decades of corporations, governments & leaders choosing profits over the value & quality of human life & of every living organism necessary to make our ecosystems thrive.

No, not the happiest of posts, but it’s honesty. We have created the rise in repeated natural disasters, pandemics & rare diseases. And until we hold these people accountable & collectively make drastic changes, then we will continue to have these in more severe cases — so yes, more diseases, more crazy things happening to our environment & the places we love. We have created this change & it’s severely impacted every facet of our lives & future.

My heart is w. everyone struggling right now, because this shouldn’t be happening. Please stay safe, check on your neighbors & loved ones. Help however way you can🤍
For many of us, Travel is very much etched into ev For many of us, Travel is very much etched into every fiber of our being. Travel makes us who we are, it brings life to our soul...

So my fellow travelers at heart, how have you soothed that part of you that feels put on pause?

I’ve been watching a lot international series, read plenty of travel publications & naturally find myself looking back at old photos, turning those memories into videos & reliving those moments...like a Sunday afternoon discovering Poço da Broca in the Serra Da Estrela🌱
If you need to mentally travel, see more of this lovely spot on the blog now!!
