Traveling to…Playa del Carmen|Rivera Maya

July 18, 2014 · 2 Comments

Traveling to Playa del CarmenIt’s crazy to think it’s almost the middle of summer already, but somehow I still find myself looking back at photos from Mexico, with a big itch to just keep traveling. Often times vacations can be filled with lots of activities and touristy attractions, that are well worth it, especially if it’s one of the wonders of the world. Which of course I always love having the opportunity to see, because they’re well-known sites for a reason, but if I had to choose my favorite places to travel when I go to a new country, it would have to be the small towns that many do not see. It’s the kind of towns that show you how the people truly live and what makes the country what it is. Traveling to Playa del CarmenYou become more fulfilled on your travels interacting the locals, and get a better sense of their culture, just as long as you’re safe doing it of course. Now, Playa del Carmen is popular amongst tourists, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and resorts along the main road and beach, yet somehow the hustle and bustle of foreigners and locals intertwine into the spirit of this city.Traveling to Playa del CarmenThere are the loveliest of French cafés with beautiful chandeliers hanging above outdoor seating and garden teapots, and authentic taquerias with mariachi players serenading those savoring refreshing margaritas and guacamole. Shops range from ones filled with lovely Mexican linen dresses, that I wish I came home with all, to family owned jewelry shops, like the one we encountered on of our resort’s employee on his day off helping his mother work. Even befriending us, complete strangers, whose job is to cater to us, and showing us true hospitality, introducing us to his family and even offering us a sampling of his homemade tequila and liquors. That’s the kind of memory and experience you get venturing in your own, not on some tour.Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del CarmenThen there was the scenic beach, with rich blues and iridescent greens and golds, simmering as waves crashed onto the sandy shore. When I look back at these beautiful images, I’m instantly reminded of the smell in the air. The pungent aroma of salt and fish, a smell so strong it could take anyone unexpectedly by surprise, growing stronger as the wind picked up. Yet so pleasant and invigorating all the same. Traveling to Playa del CarmenThe fishing boats side by side, some coming back from a hard day at sea, while others just there wading along with the rhythm of the ocean. I always seem to take photographs of boats, especially when they’re fastened along the shore or dock, wherever I go. They’re just simple fishing boats, nothing as fascinating as a grand sailboat, most times old and run down from the hard the sea. Yet, I find them intriguingly beautiful. Whether it’s my love for the sea, or that they’re merely not just fishing boats but a means of life for many, a resource for food, and an escape to relax and fuel one’s passion. It’s not something to just look at and photograph, it’s its purpose and story that makes it beautiful enough to capture. Traveling to Playa del CarmenThere was much to be seen in Rivera Maya and Mexico, but there is also much to be seen all over the world. Not sure where if when my next big travel will be, but I’m thankful for this recent adventure.Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del Carmen Traveling to Playa del Carmen

I love everything about entertaining. Flowers are my weakness, a slice of homemade pie makes my heart sing & I’m a sucker for wedding videos. Travel is a constant source of inspiration and motivation. I dream about these things, it’s true. But what I love most, is working with amazing people to create meaningful & unique celebrations…..

This week may have been a lot but at least it ende This week may have been a lot but at least it ended w. pretty flowers for little Adelaide! Her 3rd birthday may not be as big as her “Some Bunny is 1” or “Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles” celebrations but her loved ones are sure to make her special day “Berry Sweet”🍓🌸
E X P A N S I O N — "the act or process of expan E X P A N S I O N — "the act or process of expanding"💫

this year I choose to expand on the
lessons last year served us...
I expand upon all my visions, dreams & intentions
I aim to expand on love, abundance, health, joy, comfort, courage, creativity, adventure, calm, authenticity, w.e big or small that makes my soul sing & thus expand upon my growth.
But I wholeheartedly hope that this year can help others expand on all the good things they want as well -- especially in global terms🤍

I haven't set resolutions in years, instead I always set intentions -- little things that become part of who I am & in turn become the steps to bring all those images I'm inspired by, into life in my own way.

I'm simplifying even more & stripping it down, choosing to always show myself, & others,
more Grace. I quite enjoy this slow but intentional path. Yes, embracing a fresh new start seems appealing, but there’s much uncertainty still to face & we have a whole year ahead of us.

There’s time to get it done so no need to rush into it...show yourself & others some grace, be a Kind human always, because anything can happen✨

Adeus 2020... It‘ll be impossible to forget you, Adeus 2020...
It‘ll be impossible to forget you, you broke us, but you also reminded us how we resilient we are. Your chapter is closed, good riddance!!

Ironically my word for 2020 was “Bliss” yet despite all the grief, the heartbreak + emotional rollercoaster I think all of us, although at times hard, did see the silver linings this past year brought. Personally, I realized early on the immense amount of Bliss that was already present in my life, perhaps more so if this year wasn’t what it was.

No, there weren’t Big Blissful moments or travels, but there was so many moments to enjoy the simple pleasures of every day. More time in the garden, a newfound excitement in the kitchen, endless cloud gazing — birdsong listening — butterfly + dragonfly catching — soothing sunsets + always stopping to smell the roses moments. Blissful moments to create whatever it was I felt like doing, moments to appreciate what truly matters in life + what of that is what always needs to be present in life. The chance to escape in the safety of nature + loved ones. The blissful opportunity to rest, to mentally wander, to learn what stillness really is.

I gave myself grace this year & a well deserved pat on the back, & I really hope you did the same!! As I sail into 2021 I remember just how important all these moments are for growth + Expansion…

Things won’t change right away but all I can wish for all of us in 2021 is abundance, health, unity, joy & Love🤍🤍
Want to wish you all & your loved ones a very Merr Want to wish you all & your loved ones a very Merry Christmas🤍❄️ this year certainly doesn’t feel the same, we’re not gathering w. our loved ones, in fact for many this holiday season has been even more stress inducing than other years. But it doesn’t mean it can’t be magical & wonderful & beautiful whether you’re with your kids, your parents or spending it alone. Don’t forget to make it special & honor your favorite traditions, even if just for yourself!!

May these final days of the year be calm, be love & may brighter days shine upon us all next year✨🌿
