Spotlight on: Cape Coats

October 30, 2014 · 4 Comments

Spotlight on Cape CoatsI’m so happy capes are back. I’ve got a a royal blue one, bought in my Blair Waldorf school obsessed days, yes, headband too, but they’ve always reminded me of British fashion, and it’s put together chicness. Dressed up or down, my cape is perfect for lightly brisk fall days. But on nights that are becoming colder, yet not enough for a winter coat, Cape Coats are the perfect thing. This year is all about capes, it’s the outerwear of the moment but it’s a worthwhile and versatile piece that will take you into winter, with extra layers. Cape or poncho style, tartan or rich oxblood, this is the one trend you want to invest in. Here are a few of my favorites this season …

Spotlight on Cape CoatsThe Samantha Pleet coat, from Urban Outfitters, is versatile with a hood and removable cape.

Spotlight on Cape CoatsI’m a sucker for a good geo print, and I’ve got my eye on the Pendleton wrap scarf with oversized fringe.

Spotlight on Cape CoatsDoesn’t cool weather just make you want to cozy up with a blanket, so what’s better than a beautifully printed blanket style coat you can wear like this one from Urban Outfitters

Seriously Urban Outfitters has too many too just choose one, check them out for yourself here

Spotlight on Cape CoatsDon’t you see yourself running errands on the weekend in this amazing Hooded Checked Wool cape from Zara

Zara has done a sophisticated tribal print poncho that would be my everyday cape {pictured at top}

Spotlight on Cape Coats I’m looking to invest in a beautiful cape, and I can’t keep my eye off Ted Baker’s Minimalist Cape. Don’t you just see Kate Middleton wearing this lovely frock.

Spotlight on Cape Coats For a serious splurge this Burberry one is inspired by equestrian blankets, and is beyond chic. I mean SJP herself has been rocking it! SPLURGE script on photo

This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chriss This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chrissyteigen recipe wouldn’t be considered traditional but it does celebrate the beautiful Thai flavors I love. I’ll take all the spice & lemongrass please🍜😋!! It’s certainly become a staple of mine, one I’ve recreated several times & I highly recommend you save in your back pocket because it will leave you craving more...& more!!

I used to post lots of recipes on the blog ‘til weddings/events/design took center stage & hoping to do so more again. Get this recipe on the blog now!
I read something yesterday, that made me instantly I read something yesterday, that made me instantly stop & reflect..."Some people think that having Hope makes you naive, but in my mind, it's so much harder to choose Hope over being angry or frustrated..." As someone who considers herself quite a hopeful person, I've had this on my mind since. Let's not confuse Hope w. toxic positivity {in which negative feelings or hardships are pushed aside}, when there is Hope, we still acknowledge our worries, the drawbacks of life, the sadness but still know that there is good.

We've all been doing our best nearing a year into this pandemic; the lives lost, families broken, the uncertain long-term issues, jobs, livelihoods disrupted & most recently too many people to count, struggling after a natural disaster. My heart breaks & is w. all of you, but despite the darkness, what I've also seen during these trying times...is Hope & Love. Communities & strangers coming together to help one another however way they can, even when they too are struggling to get by. That right there, is Hope. Be gentle with yourself, be gentle w. those around you. We’re all doing the best we can🤍
