Last Minute Valentine’s Day Ideas

February 9, 2015 · 2 Comments

Last Minute Valentine's Day IdeasValentine’s Day, the day of love. Everyday should be one you share love to not only your significant other, but those closest to you. Then again it’s always nice to show, and receive, it a little bit more on one special day. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be stressful or break the bank either. I thought back to a fews ago when J had become frustrated when he forgot his razors for a business trip, and was instantly reminded of Dollar Shave Club, and how that would be the perfect gift for him this Valentine’s. This got me thinking about Valentine’s Day gift ideas that save time and money. The best gifts are the ones that keep giving, and it’s how you spend the day together that can make it a really special day. I’ve put together some affordable, yet intimate ways to spend Valentine’s Day with your beau, as well as some last-minute gift ideas that would make for a perfect Valentine’s Day.

1. Give the gift that gifts all year-long. What woman wouldn’t love her very own Birchbox each month. As for the men, Dollar Shave Club is an easy and fast idea, plus their quality razors get shipped right to your guy’s doorstep for as little as $1 a month! If you haven’t heard about their services, I’m sure your guy has seen their funny video. Not your typical Valentine’s day gift, but why not, every man needs a good shave, plus there’s nothing more simple than razors, and men like simple. I know my guy has been talking Dollar Shave Club up, and would be more than happy with some new razors.

2. What girl and guy doesn’t love lingerie, I for one treat myself to a new piece just for myself from time to time. Just make sure you know your girl’s size. Victoria’s Secret have sweet and dreamy pieces. Babydoll via Victoria’s Secret

3. Sometimes baked goods are the only way to your love’s heart. Hand pies shaped into hearts are adorable, and can be filled with their favorite flavors. But a basket full of goodies wouldn’t be bad either, Mouth offers curated gift sets with indie food products. They’ve got unique bites for all tastes and interests, not to mention a bunch of great options for Valentine’s Day.

4. If you and your partner like to get your drink on, find a fancy bottle of your favorite booze and serve it up with these yours & mine glasses. Recreate your own custom glasses with this easy how to. There will be no denying this gift is the perfect pair, just like the two of you.

5. Girls love flowers, but if you didn’t order flowers already most last-minute bouquets won’t be special, so what’s better than a bouquet you can eat. Create a bouquet with macarons for the your gal, or one with mini liquor bottles or craft beers for your guy.

6. Have a gourmet dinner…at home. If you haven’t made a reservation, it will surely be hard to get one now. But I prefer a home cooked dinner at home with J, and it makes it much more romantic too. Pick a meal you both really love, cook it together, and make sure to include some of these aphrodisiac flavors. Start your meal with a wine and cheese tasting, then get dressed up {or just be as comfortable as having an indoor picnic}, then light some candles, and put some music on. Really savor your meal, and talk well into dessert.

7. Indulge in a movie marathon. Valentine’s day is on a Saturday this year, which is the perfect excuse to wake up lazily, have breakfast in bed together then spend the rest of the day catching up on shows or watching movies you both love. Want to make it even more fun and cozier, bring out the kid inside you both, and build a fort. If you happen to live where it most likely will be snowing, there’s no better way than to snuggle with your love all day.

8. Dance the night away. Take a dance class together and learn to salsa. Or get dressed up and head to your favorite nighttime spot, just the two of you. Your attention will be only on your love, plus all the moving you’ll be doing together will definitely put you in the mood.

9. If you’ve just started seeing someone new, it can be difficult to decide what’s right to gift. I read this on M Loves M, and I thought it was such a cute and fun idea. Each person starts with $10, then heads to the dollar store and buys as many random gifts they can for the other person. It will be fun and interesting to see what the other will find. Definitely a Valentine’s Day you won’t forget.

10. Recreate your first date. Go back to where it all began, if you can take the trip to where you had your first dinner or shared that first kiss. Even if you have to fly somewhere to recreate those memories, it’s will be totally worth it.

11. Share sweet nothings. Leave your partner simple love notes throughout the day with sweet words on how much you love them, what makes them pretty, making a promise to take over an annoying chore, or tell them how much you love that they laugh at all your jokes. Those sweet nothings are just so romantic when written. Everyone deserves to be told all the ways you love them.

At the end of the day, Valentine’s Day shouldn’t be a big fuss. Even if it’s a simple handmade card, dinner at home or a movie night in, remember to be love and share love this Valentine’s Day.

This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chriss This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chrissyteigen recipe wouldn’t be considered traditional but it does celebrate the beautiful Thai flavors I love. I’ll take all the spice & lemongrass please🍜😋!! It’s certainly become a staple of mine, one I’ve recreated several times & I highly recommend you save in your back pocket because it will leave you craving more...& more!!

I used to post lots of recipes on the blog ‘til weddings/events/design took center stage & hoping to do so more again. Get this recipe on the blog now!
I read something yesterday, that made me instantly I read something yesterday, that made me instantly stop & reflect..."Some people think that having Hope makes you naive, but in my mind, it's so much harder to choose Hope over being angry or frustrated..." As someone who considers herself quite a hopeful person, I've had this on my mind since. Let's not confuse Hope w. toxic positivity {in which negative feelings or hardships are pushed aside}, when there is Hope, we still acknowledge our worries, the drawbacks of life, the sadness but still know that there is good.

We've all been doing our best nearing a year into this pandemic; the lives lost, families broken, the uncertain long-term issues, jobs, livelihoods disrupted & most recently too many people to count, struggling after a natural disaster. My heart breaks & is w. all of you, but despite the darkness, what I've also seen during these trying times...is Hope & Love. Communities & strangers coming together to help one another however way they can, even when they too are struggling to get by. That right there, is Hope. Be gentle with yourself, be gentle w. those around you. We’re all doing the best we can🤍
Finding it a bit hard to stay positive today…in Finding it a bit hard to stay positive today…in truth the state of our planet weighs heavily on me daily, but especially these last few days knowing that millions of people are struggling to have the basic necessities of staying warm & having running water in their own home. It’s baffling. But this is the sad reality that we have created as humans. Decades of corporations, governments & leaders choosing profits over the value & quality of human life & of every living organism necessary to make our ecosystems thrive.

No, not the happiest of posts, but it’s honesty. We have created the rise in repeated natural disasters, pandemics & rare diseases. And until we hold these people accountable & collectively make drastic changes, then we will continue to have these in more severe cases — so yes, more diseases, more crazy things happening to our environment & the places we love. We have created this change & it’s severely impacted every facet of our lives & future.

My heart is w. everyone struggling right now, because this shouldn’t be happening. Please stay safe, check on your neighbors & loved ones. Help however way you can🤍
For many of us, Travel is very much etched into ev For many of us, Travel is very much etched into every fiber of our being. Travel makes us who we are, it brings life to our soul...

So my fellow travelers at heart, how have you soothed that part of you that feels put on pause?

I’ve been watching a lot international series, read plenty of travel publications & naturally find myself looking back at old photos, turning those memories into videos & reliving those moments...like a Sunday afternoon discovering Poço da Broca in the Serra Da Estrela🌱
If you need to mentally travel, see more of this lovely spot on the blog now!!
