Inspiring Words

March 2, 2015 · 3 Comments

Inspiring WordsI first came across these words in an email I received at the end of January. It was definitely fitting for a new year, and since then I’ve kept it marked and on a post-it on my computer. They say it takes 40 days to foster a habit, and I’ve learned from reading How to Train a Wild Elephant: And Other Adventures in Mindfulness, that by choosing just one or two habits to focus on for that time, you are more able to instill those habits for the long run, rather than just trying to make changes all at once. Creating habits; say committing to a workout regimen or eating wholesome, or simply just smiling more, takes effort and time. Habits are created overtime, it’s our own motivation and determination for the final result, the person we aim to become, that should drive us everyday to make sure our healthy habits become our lifestyle. It may not even cross our thoughts, but habits are a crucial part of our happiness, as we live them every single day and moment of our lives. If we focus on the habits that work for us and ones that will make us better versions of ourselves, we’re much more likely to be happy, healthy, productive, and creative!

As we begin the month of March, yes I know we’ve lived through two months of the year already, and it’s almost Spring! I thought this quote was fitting for those of us who, like myself, are working towards our goals for 2015. Don’t become discouraged, we all have setbacks, keep at it – there are many wonderful things ahead!

If you’ve had some trouble keeping habits I suggest pre-ordering Gretchen Rubins’ new book Better than Before, she’s the author of The Happiness Project, and her advice is invaluable!

Dreamery Headshot_2020

A Lover of Nature & Kindness, constantly smitten by the simple pleasures of life. Travel fills my soul with bliss & inspiration. Flowers are my weakness, a slice of homemade pie makes my heart sing. I love the outdoors & live for al fresco dinner parties, cozy candlelit romantic affairs with warm fires & blankets to share.

I dream about these things, it’s true. Yes, it’s all the small details in life that drive me & everything I do because we all deserve to celebrate every special moment in our lives…

tiny joyous things🌿 ... I try not to lose sight tiny joyous things🌿 ... I try not to lose sight of the fact I get to create & "work" w. beautiful flowers; one of the things I love so much & one of the joyful parts of creating & sharing my work w. others. But this whole social media thing is weird right, the world is weird & broken right now -- as creatives seems like are new age question is "do I post this pretty picture when this is really happening right now?! but it's also kind of my job to put my work out there for others to see, right?!" ... but I’m learning, funny enough, by some inspiring women on this platform, it's ok to feel all these things while also sharing the joyous, cool & helpful things we are all working on, creating & hoping to bring into this world. Life is filled w. beautiful & sad moments, happiness, joy, grief, fear, doubt, love. All the tiny things🤍

& if anyone watched last night's This is Us, how beautiful was their telling of one's final moments, looking back at life. Ugh my heart😢

Event season is in full swing & it’s nice to finally step aside from planning to bring all the ideas, time & details to life!

May is the start of a busy few months of events, so I’m going to make sure I prioritize Rest whenever I can. But also plenty of garden days, living & cherishing simple moments — because when the busy days will feel like a blur or the state of the world (big/small) only adds to the mental drain, I know these will be the things that keep me going🤍
