Summer Sunflower Centerpiece

September 22, 2015 · 4 Comments

Sunflowers This past weekend my parents and I hosted a few of our neighbors for a lovely end of summer dinner. For most of us, it was actually the first time meeting each other. It was a beautiful afternoon and night, couldn’t have asked for better weather. I have plenty of recipes coming up that are perfect for Sunday football game watching, cozy movie nights in on colder days, or savored outside these last few days of warm fall weather.

I walked by the sunflowers in my hallway and wondered, “would Phil like sunflowers.” And then I thought of Phil. He reminded me of a sunflower. Always bright, smiling and making you happy. I still find it hard that a dear friend of mine from college has recently passed away, far too young. If he could be a flower, it would be the sunflower. Because it’s the one flower that is known for making people feel happy, and that’s what Phillip did, he was loved by all, always smiled and made sure you were smiling and laughing along with him. And that is all I have to say about this post. Fall is definitely here, so be sure to come back for more inspiration coming along.

Dreamery Headshot_2020

A Lover of Nature & Kindness, constantly smitten by the simple pleasures of life. Travel fills my soul with bliss & inspiration. Flowers are my weakness, a slice of homemade pie makes my heart sing. I love the outdoors & live for al fresco dinner parties, cozy candlelit romantic affairs with warm fires & blankets to share.

I dream about these things, it’s true. Yes, it’s all the small details in life that drive me & everything I do because we all deserve to celebrate every special moment in our lives…

This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chriss This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chrissyteigen recipe wouldn’t be considered traditional but it does celebrate the beautiful Thai flavors I love. I’ll take all the spice & lemongrass please🍜😋!! It’s certainly become a staple of mine, one I’ve recreated several times & I highly recommend you save in your back pocket because it will leave you craving more...& more!!

I used to post lots of recipes on the blog ‘til weddings/events/design took center stage & hoping to do so more again. Get this recipe on the blog now!
I read something yesterday, that made me instantly I read something yesterday, that made me instantly stop & reflect..."Some people think that having Hope makes you naive, but in my mind, it's so much harder to choose Hope over being angry or frustrated..." As someone who considers herself quite a hopeful person, I've had this on my mind since. Let's not confuse Hope w. toxic positivity {in which negative feelings or hardships are pushed aside}, when there is Hope, we still acknowledge our worries, the drawbacks of life, the sadness but still know that there is good.

We've all been doing our best nearing a year into this pandemic; the lives lost, families broken, the uncertain long-term issues, jobs, livelihoods disrupted & most recently too many people to count, struggling after a natural disaster. My heart breaks & is w. all of you, but despite the darkness, what I've also seen during these trying times...is Hope & Love. Communities & strangers coming together to help one another however way they can, even when they too are struggling to get by. That right there, is Hope. Be gentle with yourself, be gentle w. those around you. We’re all doing the best we can🤍
