Monthly Reflections | July

August 1, 2016 · 1 Comment

Goodness this summer is flying by! Days are significantly becoming shorter, each ending a few minutes earlier with some serious gorgeous sunsets. Almost every night the sky transforms itself into a stunning piece of art with colors so beautiful only nature could make. This summer has definitely been a colorful one so far, and it’s not just from the beauties growing in the garden. From colorful sprinkles cakes with festive tassel toppers, to getting back into watercolor painting. It’s been the biggest form of relaxation for me lately {since running or dancing has been put on the back burner for a bit}, I actually crave it mentally. The tranquility of blending colors and creating art whether it was a beautiful quote or simple birthday cards, painting quieted my frantic mind.

These last two months, my mind has definitely wandered off and left endless thoughts, concerns, frustrations, and doubts running wild within. Mediation has done wonders in helping me completely clear my mind, but for those brief moments I think of absolutely nothing, I’m also avoiding all these things I can’t stop thinking about. Which is why posts were a bit lacking last week, and because the weekend was busy teaching kid’s cooking birthday parties followed by unexpected errands and places to go. I just didn’t have the mental energy to write. How do you guys get over mental blocks when you’ve got so much going on in your head, that you can’t seem to figure out how to solve issues or get things back on track?

But seriously I don’t want summer to end, I’m sure most of you are all with me, but have you seen all the fall and halloween decorations being set up already in stores?! I can’t, I just can’t handle it yet! Can’t we just savor the present and enjoy these days while we still can. I will say this summer, along with being busy has been pretty fun and full of music. I pretty much declared it the summer of music, since I finally got to go to Firefly Music Festival which was so much fun! And then there was Coldplay. What a show! I danced, I sang my heart out, I cried, I felt everything you could possibly feel listening to their songs. Coldplay is my favorite bands, so to be able to finally see them was an amazing experience. It was simply euphoric.

Ah but August, you will be even busier so I’m planning on some fun outdoor activities to balance out all the work I’ve got ahead of. I’m hoping on some late summer weekend trips to visit friends who are lucky enough to live near lakes, which will be nice since I’m craving some serious travel and adventure.

How’s your summer been so far? Any fun and exciting plans in the weeks to come? I hope it’s been great, and continues to be!

[…] August, as busier as I was than the rest of summer, after an all-over the place month of July, mentally I found my footing and picked up simple habits again that have helped me be happier. […]

A Lover of Nature & Kindness, constantly smitten by the simple pleasures of life. Travel fills my soul with bliss & inspiration. Flowers are my weakness, a slice of homemade pie makes my heart sing. I love the outdoors & live for al fresco dinner parties, cozy candlelit romantic affairs with warm fires & blankets to share.

I dream about these things, it’s true. Yes, it’s all the small details in life that drive me & everything I do because we all deserve to celebrate every special moment in our lives…

I’ve never been one to connect with the color pu I’ve never been one to connect with the color purple much, & yes I believe everyone connects to colors in certain ways. And yet, Clematis are some of my favorite flowers🌿

For a brief few Spring days each year, the garden is a vision of purples....deep rich violets that almost look black, their sheen like velvet, delicate lavenders & pretty mauves that flutter in the breeze. Nature is a true delight for the soul🤍

They’re calling for a too hot, too soon kind of weekend, but we’ll be surrounded w. love celebrating a special wedding at a lovely location! Hope this weekend brings you moments of rest & joy, that allow you to look at all that is blooming🌱…
tiny joyous things🌿 ... I try not to lose sight tiny joyous things🌿 ... I try not to lose sight of the fact I get to create & "work" w. beautiful flowers; one of the things I love so much & one of the joyful parts of creating & sharing my work w. others. But this whole social media thing is weird right, the world is weird & broken right now -- as creatives seems like are new age question is "do I post this pretty picture when this is really happening right now?! but it's also kind of my job to put my work out there for others to see, right?!" ... but I’m learning, funny enough, by some inspiring women on this platform, it's ok to feel all these things while also sharing the joyous, cool & helpful things we are all working on, creating & hoping to bring into this world. Life is filled w. beautiful & sad moments, happiness, joy, grief, fear, doubt, love. All the tiny things🤍

& if anyone watched last night's This is Us, how beautiful was their telling of one's final moments, looking back at life. Ugh my heart😢
There’s one word to describe the first full even There’s one word to describe the first full event of the season…ethereal🤍

Event season is in full swing & it’s nice to finally step aside from planning to bring all the ideas, time & details to life!
“We are like {blossoms}; holding on, letting go, “We are like {blossoms}; holding on, letting go, rising & falling into our weathered souls…” - Angie Weiland-Crosby🌼

May is the start of a busy few months of events, so I’m going to make sure I prioritize Rest whenever I can. But also plenty of garden days, living & cherishing simple moments — because when the busy days will feel like a blur or the state of the world (big/small) only adds to the mental drain, I know these will be the things that keep me going🤍
