Traveling to…Lake George Part Two

October 6, 2016 · Leave a Comment

Traveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsI’m throwing it all the way back to two weeks ago! I know not a very long time ago, but I’m seriously craving some travel and adventure, when am I not but this time it’s because I missed out on this seasonal favorite. Going apple picking yesterday just made me crave nature and a change in scenery, and I’ve just got the beauty that was Lake George two weeks ago in mind. Along with Portugal and San Diego, Lake George is one of my absolute favorite places. I’ve luckily visited this upstate New York lake town several times because my best friend is the lucky one who was born and raised here. Traveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsTraveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsI’ve visited Lake George at every season, minus the peak of fall when the trees are rainbows of reds, oranges, yellows and browns. I bet it’s lovely, just like the sunsets we got during our stay two weeks ago. The leaves were just beginning to turn color, we still got rolling hills of bright and deep greens, but every so often you’d catch a tree, so red or yellow, unlike the rest. It’s also lovely during the springtime, which was the last time I was up here and saw my best friend. Two and half years ago for her wedding! Life can stink sometimes when you can’t see the people ya love enough. But I was so excited to be returning to see her, celebrate her hubby’s big 3-0, and actually show J the lake without the craziness of me being in a wedding. Traveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsTraveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsTraveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsNo matter how many times I come up, it’s just not enough for me. I always return home wanting a bit more of the Lake, and my best friend of course. I’m definitely planning a week long trip up to the area hopefully next summer to get my fill. But Saratoga, oh Saratoga Springs is up there as one of my all time favorite cities, and I’ve only experienced just a bit of it.

But whether it’s my sixth or first time, Lake George always looks unique and more beautiful  to me. If you have the chance definitely add Lake George to your travel bucket list. Speaking of bucket list, traveling is on my list this fall, and this trip was the perfect way to kick off the first weekend of autumn. Traveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsTraveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsTraveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsTraveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsTraveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsI’ve got another overnight trip planned later this month, but I’m already plotting on where I can explore next. Are you planning any fun trips this season? A weekend away at a bed and breakfast for the peak of New England foliage? A late fall trip to Napa to see wine being harvested and made? Okay, now I’m seriously getting wanderlust….Traveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsTraveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsThe vibrant blue morning skies softened as the hours became later. With vibrant blues becoming softer with pale pinks, the lake was ethereal like. These are my favorite sunsets, the colors are an array of pastels from blue, pink, peach and everything in between. Traveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsIsn’t that soft, pink and blue sky just so dreamy! I’m planning on getting this photo framed. I love the colors and vibe of it so much, and think it will look just perfect in my office for those moment during the day when my mind drifts off. Traveling to...Lake George II | Dreamery EventsYou really can’t beat this view. John’s birthday celebration turned out to be a great day. The gloomy rain from the day before didn’t stop us from enjoying a sunny and lightly brisk Saturday drinking, catching up with friends to celebrate 30 while listening to an amazing live musician right atop the lake.

Two weeks, has been like forever ago, how did I manage to make it two and half years without coming up here…

We connect & interpret it in so many personal ways — some of us are drawn to the beauty in the soft muted tones, while others it’s the bright rich hues. Each view & approach, a special way of embracing color✨🌿🌈And I am here for all it!

“Ikebana; the Japanese art of flower arranging t “Ikebana; the Japanese art of flower arranging that emphasizes form & balance — symbolizing the beauty & essence of all components in Nature working in harmony. Ikebana expresses strong emotions through its four principles of a fresh approach, movement, balance & harmony, while highlighting its three elements; line, color & mass.

Ikebana designs use fewer stems that are intentionally arranged to reflect the balance of opposing elements. Ikebana floral art is a reflection of the person creating it & its evolving story.”

This year I’m challenging myself each month to create a design. Whether it be a centerpiece or tablescape, I want to expand & challenge my creativity, skills & ever-flowing ideas. It’s a perfect way for me to create for the sake of creating while inspiring you with joyful pieces & help others see unlikely designs with a new perspective.

I was naturally drawn to the traditional artform of Ikebana, for it takes the simplest elements & transforms them into designs that evoke an immense emotion. For me there is so much power & beauty in that, but also why I think it’s not as understood or appreciated as elaborate floral designs.

I stumbled upon this forgotten small blue & white dish, thought how perfect it would be to capture the story of “Winter Blues” — not the sadness of the bitter season, but the emotion of a fresh clean slate where Nature is bare, minimal & calm, yet open to all the possibilities of the unknown … using a few sprigs of Blue Thistle & the inspiration of Ikebana intentions, this tiny delight was made💙

Dreamery is a bespoke event and floral design brand focusing on gatherings of all sizes, stylings, home, decor and the limitless creative projects yet to be envisioned. Nature, travel, old world treasures & slow living are my constant inspiration.
