How To : Embroidery Hoop Wreath DIY

May 8, 2017 · 6 Comments

I absolutely love Spring, it’s my favorite season. As a quintessential June baby, any type of brisk or cold weather just isn’t for me. So naturally I dream about this time of year all winter long, and all the the things I can finally do outdoors, including all the floral Spring crafts I can get my hands on! And today I’m sharing a very simple embroidery hoop floral wreath DIY, that is lovely enough to grace your front door all through summer….DIY : Embroidery Hoop Wreath || Dreamery EventsDIY : Embroidery Hoop Wreath || Dreamery Events

You’ll Need

  • 1 Embroidery Hoop, in the size of your choice {I used a 14″ bought here}
  • Faux Peonies & White Filler Flowers, including their leaves {of course use whatever flowers & greens you like}
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Wire Cutters

DIY : Embroidery Hoop Wreath || Dreamery EventsDIY : Embroidery Hoop Wreath || Dreamery EventsBegin by cutting all of the flowers and greenery you plan on using, and set aside in groups. First, arrange and lay out the florals onto the hoop how you’d like it to look once glued. Take a picture, so you have something to reference once you begin gluing. I choose to hide the embroidery hoop tightener, but go ahead and let it show for a fun touch.

Using your hot glue gun, glue on the first layer of greens or foliage. I started with the bulkier white flower filler, then added different types of flat leaves. Use different greens to create texture.DIY : Embroidery Hoop Wreath || Dreamery EventsSince my focal point was going to be these two lovely peonies, every time I glued on a green I placed them atop as a point of reference. I wanted to keep my wreath minimally lush, but go ahead and add more foliage if you prefer.

Once you’re satisfied with greenery, start gluing on the peonies. And that’s it!DIY : Embroidery Hoop Wreath || Dreamery EventsIn a matter of minutes, with a few simple steps you have yourself a beautiful Spring wreath! If I wasn’t taking photos I would’ve put this together in less than 10 minutes. And you of course can certainly add a lot more florals to your wreath, just don’t cover the hoop completely, it’s the unique part that sets this wreath apart from traditional ones.IMG_7172I only made one wreath but I can’t get the image of a wedding installation or backdrop made from an array of these floral hoops in different sizes. Have you seen this trend? It’s just so pretty and cool, I can’t get enough of it right now. It’s boho, minimal, whimsical and fun! Now that I think of it, wouldn’t it look absolutely pretty grouped together on a little girl’s room wall or an office.DIY : Embroidery Hoop Wreath || Dreamery EventsI honestly love this DIY so much, it’s definitely the peonies, aren’t they just gorgeous!

It’s a beautiful Spring welcoming to any home.

      Hi Jen! I’ve used Command Strips to hang onto a wall or a string to hang over the front door, which I have a tiny screw placed on the inside of the door to attach. Hope that helps!

    Hi I am going to start making this wreath for my girlfriend’s birthday. Since the look is to have the flowers on the side how does the wreath not slide to the bottom opposite the hook? Should I incorporate a ribbon in between the hoops before I start glueing to hang the wreath from?

I’ve found the less I share on social media the more authenticity thrives. The ever-dream & idea filled mind grows & flourishes. It’s been comforting knowing that other creatives I’ve admired for years, both event related & not, have in part felt the same. When one creative outlet was paused, the other creative ideas that had been hibernating in the mind, quietly waiting for their time, began to shine brighter & brighter. Yes, it’s been comforting feeling that commonality in change & perspective...

But the one thing that’s never changed for me, is celebrating the beauty in the simple things. Giving a new home, a new form of life to a simple treasure. Those subtle everyday moments that are beyond inspiring...

“I’m in no hurry; the sun & the moon aren’t, “I’m in no hurry;
the sun & the moon aren’t, either.
Nobody goes faster
than the legs they have.
If where I want to go is far away,
I’m not there in an instant.

I’m in no hurry. What for?
The sun & moon aren’t in a hurry: they’re right.
Hurrying is believing people
can get past their legs,
or that, jumping, they can land
past their shadow.
No; I don’t know how to hurry.
If I stretch out my arm,
I get exactly where my arm gets --
not even a centimeter farther.
I only touch where I touch,
not where I think.
I can only sit down where I am.
& that’s funny, like all really true truths,
but what’s really funny
is that we’re always thinking something else
& we live absent from our reality.
& we’re always outside it because we’re here.

Não, não sei ter pressa.” -- Fernando Pessoa

I've come to realize that my path is a slower one, albeit scenic, but slower. So when time feels like it's whirling by faster than a blink, like March felt, at least for me, it certainly makes me feel a bit on edge. Anyone else?

But I'm reminded of the sun,
the garden, the bees & the blooms,
how their slowness welcomes full
& brighter days ahead🌿
