Location
Location is probably the most important choice when having a romantic picnic. Think outside the neighborhood “park” and head to a different location like a vineyard or if it’s possible the place you first met. Atop a mountain, overlooking the lake or on the beach watching the sunset is most definitely romantic and if you’re both active you can take advantage of the scenery to go on an adventure.
Sweet Moments
The purpose of a picnic is to spend much needed time with a loved one. Just being with each other, on a nice day enjoying yummy bites and sips is already a pretty perfect way to have a romantic picnic. But it’s also a wonderful opportunity to do things you enjoy together, like going for a hike or swim, reading, relaxing to music or even planning a trip or your next romantic date.
Bites & Sips
You of course can’t have a picnic without a bite to eat. A good tip for any picnic is to choose mess-free foods that you can avoid bringing too many supplies for. Remember you want to keep things simple and romantic, so bring finger foods like nuts, cheeses, meats for a delicious and easy cheese board. Fresh seasonal fruits, like berries and watermelon, are the perfect dessert alongside light lemon shortbread cookies.
If you really want to make it cause for celebration, bring a bottle of your favorite bubbly or wine. You can also fill mason jars with refreshing cocktails or you can pack your favorite brew, but don’t forget to bring plenty of water to stay hydrated too!
Decor
Having a picnic can be a pretty and simple thing, without taking too much of an effort. A bouquet of your love’s favorite flowers, a pretty basket to bring all your tasty treats, and a soft comfy blanket. If you really want to make it a special moment, bring some lanterns or candle filled mason jars to set the mood.
When life can become demanding and time to spend together is sparse, it’s nice to take advantage of the more relaxed season of summer to get outside and savor the sunshine with a romantic picnic.
You can easily recreate any of these ideas for a picnic with kids and family, brunch the gals, or even an engagement session. Who doesn’t love a picnic in the Summer, are you planning on enjoying any of these fun ideas??
