It’s the most wonderful time of the year… except when it involves hectic schedules and endless to-do lists. This year, I’m determined to not let holiday craziness, both personally and within the business, get the best of me, or in the way of savoring this magical season. This is one of the most magical times of the year, and so in keeping with this year’s goal of “simplicity” I’ve been creating very easy DIY’s that are elegant, whimsical, and a personal way to incorporate more holiday decor within your home and entertaining!
If you’ve been following along you may have noticed I’ve taken matters into my own hands by keeping this holiday season stress-free, even amongst all the orders, event work, and personal sh** to take care, and focusing on what really matters! Who’s with me? And although a handmade holiday may seem like the opposite and make the holiday even more stressful, it actually helps you relax by getting craftsy with holiday themed fun, while repurposing items from holidays past, that may be simply taking up space in your home.
So to continue our next installment of Handmade Holiday, I’m sharing these lovely nature inspired place cards perfect for your next holiday party table!
It’s only in the last two years or so that personally my family has begun using place cards at Thanksgiving. Since Christmas we have big two day celebrations, we tend to take it a bit more casual, so for Thanksgiving {where our focus is to begin gathering once again, being thankful for each other and the delicious spread on the table} we tend to make decor and styling just a bit more nicer.
In keeping with a foraged natural simplistic holiday, these fresh herb place cards mimic this lovely wreath and only require pieces of cards stock and sprigs of fragrant fresh rosemary.
The scent itself makes it perfect for winter holiday festivities, and it looks just like Christmas pine, while being edible. And did I mention that they’re so easy to make yet they make any holiday table more beautiful!
I calligraphed each person’s name, but you can easily type them on the computer, print then cut them down to the size of your choice.
Cut sprigs of fresh herbs, whether rosemary, sage, eucalyptus or mint, to the width of your place to fit above each name. Hot glue in place. I made a hole punch to insert the branch to make sure it was better secure.
Personalize with a ribbon that will pull your table look and place setting styling together.
Each guest, shall I say the ladies, loved this little simple detail and personal touch, and all brought them back home with them. Some hung them at work, others to sit along a frame and my cousin even placed it onto her tree, how fun right?!
These place cards really are the simplest decor to make, yet make for such a lovely addition to a holiday table, without taking away from the special seasonal celebration!
