Hello Spring! Although you do not actually feel like it today, I know for sure that you are right around the corner. Even if winter weather is coming, I know in my heart that it will be winter’s last blast. The way the birds have been singing in the early morning, the sun’s warmth lingering a bit longer each day, but it’s something in the air that, personally, in the last month has made feel that beautiful feeling of Spring.
When Spring comes around, it’s like waiting for Santa. Just like the trees and flowers, something within me comes alive again. That excitement, joy and anticipation to get outside. To get my hands filled with dirt from the garden, to cook and bake pies with all the delicious produce coming back into season, but mostly that slightly carefree feeling that no matter the stresses of work and life, we naturally become a bit more easy going.
Whenever we think of Spring we think of spending more time outdoors, and of all the flowers that will begin blooming soon. So naturally on this first day Spring I’m sharing the loveliest centerpiece featuring the prettiest ranunculus and pink roses. These florals have texture, movement, and show color in the most subtle bright way.
I made this arrangement earlier this month for the cutest pink soiree for a 2nd birthday that I will be sharing soon, but the best part of these florals is that the longer they went, the more movement they ranunculus decided to take on. The roses continued to open themselves to grand beauties and each delicate bloom became more beautiful than when first arranged. This has easily become my favorite floral arrangement because it represents the natural and simplistic movement of nature. Even look back at these photos I can’t help but smile and filled with joy, even on a cloudy day.
This centerpiece is screaming Spring entertaining, perfect for Easter lunch, Mother’s day brunch or the many al fresco get-togethers you plan on having! BUT do not think you can only achieve this look if you have floral knowledge. You can easily pick up these flowers, or similar ones, from your local florist, and even Whole Foods.
How To Create An Arrangement
- To arrange it into whatever container you have, begin by making a grid with waterproof tape.
- Begin by filling the vase with your greens filling the space to create your base. This will also create the foundation for the movement you want to achieve.
- Next, pick your three focal points and nestle in your bigger blooms, like the mums and roses. Then work the ranunculus in. Don’t fight the direction these flowers are going in, ranunculus are very delicate stems so work with them, not against.
- And finally finish off with any filler flowers, like the Solidago, and extra green stems if needed.
These steps can easily be applied to any floral arrangement, no matter the vessel you choose to use. Another tip, floral arrangements look the best in odd numbers — 1 large peony, 3 roses, 5 ranunculus, etc….it’s a florist go-to and the number one rule we stick to whenever creating a centerpiece.
