If I thought the beginning of March was crazy busy, I wouldn’t expect that by the end of it and as we head into April, I’m going into this new month even busier. I mean it’s pretty amazing but I keep getting inquiries to work with different clients on so many different events from birthday parties to cakes to weddings, even focus groups along with emails emails and emails. It’s helped that I’ve taken my meditations more seriously. Because by the end of the month with so many things going on I constantly wondered how I didn’t get lost.
There were days that did become a” to-do list”, simply knocking items off of it, not really realize that they were just mere boxes to cross off. I realized by mid-month that I need to go beyond just making a checkmark and crossing a to-do list off. I needed to go beyond my typical position/positions, whether it’s my clients who should never feel like they’re being taken care of with less than 110%. Did I mention the amount of emails already??
I’ve been consumed with from both ends, but mostly from TRW and this focus group we’re producing, It will be cool to be in NYC a few days planning a cool low-key event while meeting a bunch of creative influencers, including some I’ve worked with to post their articles on the site. But I’m still pretty excited for it, it will be a nice change of pace. And as cute as they were, I’m glad my Thursday afternoon cooking camp with the kids is over for the season. I don’t know if I could’ve handled it, I would’ve if I had to, but not sure if I would’ve been as happy…I definitely need a working buddy assistant? Maybe for the Month of planning for an event, hmm things are happening around here. So that’s what’s been up with me…
Btw aren’t those flowers above just the most gorgeous things ever, the longer they stayed after a party, the prettier and wilder they became. This is why I love springtime.
But how was March for you? Did you celebrate St. Patrick’s day, March Madness, Easter, Passover, what else? Spring…not that the weather is actually here just yet. This weather on the east coast though, it’s totally cookoo. Right now it’s muggy and gloomy, yet on the rise to 60’s while Monday we woke up to half a foot of snow, with more expected on Saturday. Yet, it’s the 1st week of April, the flowering trees have ust begin to flower, while the blooms in the gardens. And when I woke up to snow, it didn’t even faze me I just became upset for all the blooms that might be affected by this snow. Such is the ecosystem and mother nature, you can’t predict it anymore, thank you global warming….
As winter was close to ending, I finally shared the pretty winter garden bridal shower I planned and styled for the lovely bride Vanessa. And now she’s less than 4 weeks from her wedding to Al! It’s going to be a classic romantic vintage affair.
I made March the month to truly focus on the last few items I still hadn’t completely transformed to a green, clean product. I was playing deodorant roulette and decided to finally try to pricier route, with Primally Pure. I got the charcoal version, which I have to say was loving 3 days in. I don’t have to reapply too often, doesn’t leave stains and actually works. So far it’s been a good investment, but I’ll keep you posted.
I have almost finished spring cleaning everything, all I need to tackle is my baking space. During this month I took spring cleaning one section at a time, dedicating a longer weekend day to do more in-depth work like cleaning the baseboards. I actually really enjoy cleaning and organizing, and it helped to clear the mind when I had so much going on with multiple events happening soon. If you’ve read in the past, you know in recent years I’ve made my own cleaning spray, room fragrance, and bug spray. Through The Refined Woman and stories I’m working on with Branch Basics, they kindly sent me their starter kit at the beginning of the month, just in time for serious SC {spring cleaning}. As much as I love being able to easily make my own cleaning spray especially, sometimes even the subtle scent of vinegar with pretty essential oils, becomes overwhelming for me. And these products didn’t have a scent one might be averse to, and it left even my white bathroom spotless.

March kicked off with an all out pretty pink fete perfect for a darling 2 year old birthday. It had teepees balloons, and macaroons, need I say more?! Once I find a bit more time, I can’t wait to share all the adorable details from this fun party.
The following weekend we celebrated my end of May bride with her bridal shower. She is already so creative, and so is her fiancé, that it was so nice to be invited as a guest for once and see all the amazingly creative and pretty details the two of them created. Nicole has such a great eye, I love working and bouncing off ideas with creative clients. How pretty are the details below of her rustic Spanish Bridal fiesta fit with Mexican tiles, maracas and Frida decorated cookies!!
When you start to make a list of all the little details you need to work on for all the different events you have going on, all before leaving at the end of May for Portugal. Last weekend I looked at the calendar and freaked out, and I slightly did that again on Saturday, worrying about all the things left unmarked on my to-do lists. but then I just let it go. Decided I need to really clear my head and focus on what was important and the task at hand, even if that involved worrying/thinking about other daily things. With so many moving parts, and little pieces, I found that what worked that best with me was sticking to strict time blocks. An hour for emails in the morning, some writing if the mood strikes, TRW emails for our upcoming event along with reoccurring weekly posts, misc. design projects, and wedding decor making, like calligraphing lots of pretty signs ands tags…
Let the Luau birthdays and Memorial day weekend celebrations begin! These fun sweet 16 invitation came attached to its very own Lei for each guest, now that’s going to be one fun party to kick off summer…
Okay so I jumped on the Insta Story Highlight bandwagon…is that what you call it?? I’m late to the game right? I made custom graphics, I like them they’re simple, pretty and and an ode to nature, naturally 😉 Well I kicked it all off with tons of ideas for Easter, and it had me going down blog memory lane. I realized I had so many pretty posts that I’ve done in the past that I easily have forgotten. I need to showcase more of these ideas, and stories really is a great way to do that.
I loved these diy Easter eggs and bright and vibrant orange floral centerpiece. This April, even with a crazy schedule, I’m setting aside an afternoon to plan out my stories and social media a bit better, so that I can share more of the past posts and work I love so much, including recipes, party ideas, floral and DIY’s you can make this Spring and Summer.
It was nice that I was busy, because along with plenty of good music, which you’ll notice on this month’s playlist because there is a lot of new music, but it helped me push through all these moving pieces, and thoughts, sleepless nights, early morning babysitting, and every other thing in between. But snowstorms didn’t faze me once the official calendar said First Day of Spring, I was changed, even with snow on the ground, the birds were chirping in a way they do only in Spring..I know I’m looney. Can you tell, winter is driving me crazy….
So April, this month I want to simplify, especially with so much going on, I want to pare things down, make my surrounding more calm. On the material side I’m going to finish going through things to donate or give away, because the stashes of bags are driving me crazy, finish transferring my photo albums off my computer and onto the drive to clear up space. Mentally, I want to turn off more, and earlier each night, I need to get some better sleep to be energized for so many tasks. For the time of lent I was heading to bed earlier because I was waking up earlier, so I’m going to continue that happen. I’d go even earlier to bed, once I finally get a bedside lamp. Seriously guys, how hard can it be to choose a lamp??
But now that the weather is nicer, hello running, and if the rain does continue, I’ll make sure to dance because I know for sure I’ll bring some joy into a gloomy looking day. . I definitely want to keep things simple this month. I know it’s going to get crazy busy, so I want to be able to balance it out with things that ground me.
There are so many different things happening both in the business, other career ventures and personal things, that my plan for Spring is to take it one day at a time. Focus on each moment, to stop and smell the roses, to take a pause to hear the birds chirping even on a foggy day. I’m hoping the weather holds up so I can finally get into the garden too. But I don’t want to allow myself to become overly busy that I lose track of time to focus on myself and my wellbeing, because it’s definitely has to make its way up higher on my list of priorities.
How did March treat you? Planning on anything bit this month or looking forward to something this Spring season?!
