Weddings are not necessarily the most children geared celebration, most things that are special or we partake as adults, are not the things children find entertaining. But of course children make up the very dear people in our lives, they can be flowers girls, ring bearers, nieces, nephews or just darling friends…..of course these cuties have to take part in the special day. What we cherish and remember as adults from our wedding, are not what a child remembers, that’s why today I’m sharing my essential tips and ideas to entertain all your youngest guests with these Adorable and Fun Goodie Bags to make sure all the children attending your wedding have just as much fun too!
YOUR NO-FAIL CHILDREN FUN TIME BAG ITEMS :
Custom Coloring + Activity Booklets keep children entertained for a good time of coloring, puzzle solving and activity playing. You can easily design one yourself using pre-made templates and designs, or find so many fun and cute designs on places like Etsy.
Fun activities to include : Mazes, Word Search, Fill in the Blank…
Crayons, colored pencils..they are a must, children, of all ages, love to color!
Bubbles – a little pot for fun bubble making, is always a winner!
A Few Sweet Treats Never Hurt Nobody! Include at least two candy varieties you know most children will enjoy, and also considers any specific allergies, like classic chocolate pieces and festive Lollipops. Individually wrapped or mini versions, work best for this. You can also swap in a healthy treat like pretty packets of grapes, apples or other fruit in season or native to your wedding destination. A bag of nuts, dried fruits or local traditional cookies would also be great for these goodie bags!
Love is a beautiful puzzle …. It’s fun to include small individual puzzle piece squares, who doesn’t love to work on a puzzle. These blank ones we included are blank for a reason, it allows the children to color in whatever image for their puzzle as they choose. Some of the older children might even decide to group together to design a larger puzzle image…how fun would that be?!!
If you really want to all go in the puzzle theme, you can even have a puzzle made from one of your engagement photos. That would be fun for all to put together and a treasured keepsake for years to come.
Package these fun time treats in a lovely Take Home Bag! Gather all these goodies all in a cute bag the darling guests can reuse again. That’s why I love these simple yet classic looking cotton muslin drawstring bags! They secure all their treats inside while being a lovely new bag they can bring to school or on their upcoming summer adventures. Plus it allows each child to bring their fun items back to their seat with mom or dad, and they can be amongst the party with everyone else, just entertained with their goodie bag.
Once you have everything above included in your children wedding bags, then you’re all set, but in the case you want to throw in a little something extra and fun, these items also make great children goodie bag treats!
Pint Size Play Doh, as long as it’s toxic free and allowed at the venue, then it makes a fun and entertaining treat to include. I know I would love to get my hands on play doh, anyone else like sinking their fingers into the squishy fluffiness!
Finger Puppets – for a little imaginative and furry fun! You can buy finger puppets in sets or if you’re feeling really creative, you could create your own simple felt finger puppets.
Scavenger Hunt Checklists work great for older kids who are okay on their own, and just a bit too old to sit around and color. Create a fun list of scavenger items and pair it along with an instant camera. Good times are sure to be had!
Retro + Classic Toys. If your venue has the room to have a separate space to entertain children, then take advantage of it! Setup a basket with a handful of toys that children can play together, and for a bit of time, preferably through all the dances and speeches. Spinning tops, kaleidoscopes and board games are great ideas and please many ages!
If you’re having a destination or summer wedding, chances are you might have a few lovely young guests ready to attend your special day, so it’s best to keep them entertained, so that not only they, but their parents and you can all full enjoy your special day!
