I love working on events and forming a working friendship and bond with clients that I then get to continually experience and be a part of special moments in their lives — from weddings, to babies, to everything in between and beyond worthy of celebration. It’s quite heartwarming to see, especially the children grow up over the years, some of which I’ve gotten to see their unique personalities blossom from toddlers to spirited kids nearing their double digits. It’s certainly a sweet thing and I love doing it, especially after such long pandemic months, working with the lovely Jessica again for the darling Luciana on her christening, was simply a joy.
She shared a few images of the flowers that caught her eye and that she wanted deckle edge stationery, but it was this invite from the gorgeous selection of August and White that inspired the entire look. Hints of boho pampas grasses, bunny tails and other dried stems with delicately pink and cream colored flowers, like the Quicksand rose which on its own makes everything feel a bit more romantic. Different gold and bronze taper holders were scattered amongst the guest tables, with varying shades of flickering rose colored candles. Blush pink cheesecloth linens were organically draped atop the tables, adding just the right amount of soft minimalism.
Our cake table was that capturing moment before guests even walked in, thanks in part to the full sized glass windows that allowed not only the natural light and breeze to flow beautifully into the space — but it gave everyone a lovely view upon arriving to celebrate Luciana’s special day.
Lush velvet linen draped with soft flowing cheesecloth were the perfect textural backdrop for varying tones of aged golds, pinks and textured vintage glasses of even more taper candles. This cake table was all about the textures and different elements — the cake’s white floral pattern, the natural wild flow of the ruscus greens wrapped around sleek modern copper, the sweetness of floating glass candlelight, and the simplest touch of varying pampas cluster together and wisps of darling baby’s breath and roses. All these details so different from afar, but when a mere few pieces are put together and styled simply but intentionally, they become a lovely sight to enjoy.
And I may sound like a broken record when I say simple details may a big impact, but I really do mean it when I say it, when styling thoughtfully; less is more…
Jessica loves greens and garlands, so for one table design, we did short lush greenery clusters in the center with tiny sprigs of baby’s breath which along the other table design included mixed bud vases of bunny tails and candlelight. On the other tables we had a bit more fun with the flowers. Small white textured ceramic dishes were organically nestled with a blend of cream, white and pink colored roses, ranunculus, Gerbera Daisy, scabiosa and dried grasses like palm leaves, bleached fern, bunny tails, wheat grass and white pampas. Who said neutral color palettes aren’t exciting? These florals are full of texture, blending hues and movement that are a beautiful sight
Our table numbers of gold floating frames with pressed greens have become a popular look amongst weddings and events, and it’s quite simply because it’s a whimsical detail that is classic, gardeny, romantic, and yet still minimalist.
Once inside guests were greeted with the seating chart; a wooden frame with table lists similar in style and on the same deckle edge paper as the invitations, each one clipped onto twine with a snippet of fresh greens. Some more modern rose gold geo lanterns, clay tapers and pretty gerbera daisies completed this darling look.
Jessica loved these jarred natural lavender candles, aren’t they the sweetest gifts!! We continued that minimalist romantic look by wrapping each candle with a “Thank You” wax sealed deckle edge paper tag. I think these favors sum up the vision for this styling, okay maybe many more elements did as well, but arranged atop more flowing linen and a minimalist boho dried arrangement, it showcases how these simple details blend the vintage and modern together beautifully.
This is certainly not what one would expect as far as Christening celebration stylings, but it was truly one of my favorites to create and bring to life!
