Romancing the Start of Spring :: 3 Styling Inspirations for an Ever-Blooming New Season

Romancing the Start of Spring :: 3 Styling Inspirations for an Ever-Blooming New Season || Dreamery Events

Today we welcome April, another month, another season evolving with new days of living … and after quite some time of not sharing on the blog, of which I like to call more a creative journal, I happy to share some of the things that have been inspiring me this Spring season. Hopefully it will help start you on whatever creative process you may be on, whether a wedding, event or simply redesigning a new space in your home. After a bit of time not feeling inspired, overcome by winter’s gloom and personal grief, it has felt lovely to have slowly begun feeling inspired once again. I think once you see, and read the story behind these seasonal ideas and moodboards, these stylings will absolutely take you into this lovely Spring world that lives in my head and tell the story of how I hope to approach this new season, new chapter ahead of us. It’s how I want this new season to feel….calming, simple, joyful, full of nature, growing blooms, life, connection, the things and people that make us smile with comfort and joy.

It’s more than just beautiful images and creations, it was truly an soulful act and creative moment in time, just for myself. A much needed creative release, and small rejuvenating push, for myself.  No matter what one may be going through, or how I may be feeling — Spring is a  time to appreciate Nature in all it’s beauty, feel inspired by it, and that I am.

My mind was inspired by three distinctly colorful and aesthetically designed movie and television sets, and once you read that they are below, you’ll also see that they are they ones that would perfectly bring my ideas to life. And I was not only inspired by the looks of these these shows and iconic movie style; it very much includes the music and melodies so well known and beloved that accompanies these. When becoming inspired this Spring, creating these stylings and vision boards, music very much played a crucial role in how each piece came together. It was an important main character of this new chapter….

With this first styling and flat lay, we start off in the formal, dainty and distinct colorful palette of Bridgerton. The softness of nature’s ethereal greens; sages and willows, the calming hues of a sky from dusk to dawn, the emergence of Spring’s first buds, still too small to truly stop one in their tracks.

This first styling and inspiration board, is an ode to minimalism and modernity with a romantic twist, and a whole lot of love for Mother Nature’s soothing color palette. You might smirk when I tell you that the main colors for these were pulled from some of my favorite seasonal wardrobe pieces; a sage kaftan dress, a marigold yellow dress, burn terracotta skirt, dusty rose and pale pink pants, silk and velvet ribbons — I couldn’t have recreated these colors if I wanted to from anywhere else. My mind was naturally seeing these hues everyday, and they transitioned beautifully between each styling and visionboard. The different shades of sage, olive and soothing greens are my favorite colors because they represent what it means for color to have movement. In natural fabrics, or on the petals of a new bloomed branched — it’s the changes, variations in light and darkness, there is so much movement in color.

This styling is all about lightness and movement, the way Mother Nature beautifully and romantically speaks for itself on a Spring day…

From this world of soft greens, calming cloud whites and pretty blushes — we move into those first grand and boldly colored flowers of the Spring season. A world where the gloom of dark winter days have been shaken off, the music giving you that same pop-y and fizzy feeling a Spring cocktail brims with. In this world, we’re confidently, and with the purest of hearts and intentions, walking alongside the blooming flowers trees and cobblestone alleys a la Emily in Paris.

In this next flat lay inspiration and color palette, I wanted to celebrate the brighter versions of these pretty soft greens and pinks. I wanted the pinks to pop, and I wanted pops of golden and joyful yellows, so reminiscent of Spring’s longer days of sunshine I love so much! It also it very much the character Emily’s overall brighter perspective on life and living in Paris. Recent style inspiration from Julia Berolzheimer and Blair Eadie, were the first sparks of excitement and wonder for spring’s arrival this year. Yellow is one of my favorite colors, and this season, after the Spring’s of recent years and because even more so now that we are all still are finding it hard to find and navigate hope of a better day in this world still. I think it’s important to showcase those feelings of power and strength, even sadness and joy, through color.

And we end in one of the most inspiring worlds to me, and that is of Wes Anderson’s. I often find myself having moments I like to delve into his works, particularly my favorite “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and his latest release “The French Dispatch”, was one of the biggest inspiration for creating this entire Spring styling and post. The way Wes Anderson tells a story, with words, but really through his visuals and sounds; it’s truly one of a kind! It’s no wonder his name is so synonymous with design styles and particular aesthetics.

So as go further into the season and embrace the progress of Spring, we also welcome the bold, warm, richness of Summer. And that is everything I wanted this last color palette and vision board to represent. A uniquely colorful monochromatic world of beauty inspired by an early 1970’s Wes Anderson party with colored glasses brimming of chilled champagne, fiesty and fun French tunes that lend themselves to all the dancers, the drinkers, the loungers, the players, the sun-soakers, the in-betweeners — the smell of  sweet ripened peaches, coconut oil and salty ocean breezes.

This pair of undated vintage Anne Klein sunglasses, a stunner that stopped me in my tracks while salvaging for antiques and treasures, and the set of smoke glasses champagne coupes were the inspiration for the feel of this styling. Give me all the happy and mellow yellows and pretty soft roses, keep my coupe glass filled and the music vibing, because I’ve got my sunnies on and that means it’s time to dance and go on an adventure!

With these colors, this look and feel, we mark the nearing of the end of Spring and the beginning of the arrival of Summer…

And don’t think that you have to have special items, fresh blooms and styling pieces on hand to recreate your own vision of these looks, I used whatever I was immediately inspired by when walking around my home, do it yourself! You’d be surprised how you can see old items with a new perspective.

I think these color palettes and vision boards can inspire endless ideas — whether you’re feeling classically romantic, a bit playfully boho or mod — I only wish that this Spring season blooms some brightness in your life, however way you need it!

Thanks for this inspiration! I’ve been a fan of Wes Anderson ever since I saw Rushmore. I love the world he builds in his films, and I can see his influence in your pictures.

The vases in your pictures are really neat and might be my favorite thing about your photos. Where did you get those?

Also, how did you make the photos look vintage and affect the color tone? Those are very cool!

“Ikebana; the Japanese art of flower arranging t “Ikebana; the Japanese art of flower arranging that emphasizes form & balance — symbolizing the beauty & essence of all components in Nature working in harmony. Ikebana expresses strong emotions through its four principles of a fresh approach, movement, balance & harmony, while highlighting its three elements; line, color & mass.

Ikebana designs use fewer stems that are intentionally arranged to reflect the balance of opposing elements. Ikebana floral art is a reflection of the person creating it & its evolving story.”
……
This year I’m challenging myself each month to create a design. Whether it be a centerpiece or tablescape, I want to expand & challenge my creativity, skills & ever-flowing ideas. It’s a perfect way for me to create for the sake of creating while inspiring you with joyful pieces & help others see unlikely designs with a new perspective.

I was naturally drawn to the traditional artform of Ikebana, for it takes the simplest elements & transforms them into designs that evoke an immense emotion. For me there is so much power & beauty in that, but also why I think it’s not as understood or appreciated as elaborate floral designs.

I stumbled upon this forgotten small blue & white dish, thought how perfect it would be to capture the story of “Winter Blues” — not the sadness of the bitter season, but the emotion of a fresh clean slate where Nature is bare, minimal & calm, yet open to all the possibilities of the unknown … using a few sprigs of Blue Thistle & the inspiration of Ikebana intentions, this tiny delight was made💙

Dreamery is a bespoke event and floral design brand focusing on gatherings of all sizes, stylings, home, decor and the limitless creative projects yet to be envisioned. Nature, travel, old world treasures & slow living are my constant inspiration.
