A Bridal Shower Inspired by Natural Terracotta Hues, Organic Textures & Hints of Moody Sage Greens

November 8, 2022 · Leave a Comment

It is a creative gift whenever you work with clients, and brides — whose creative eye excites and challenges you, who wants to create truly special and personal details while putting an unique spin on elements often seen. That was the pleasure of working with Aneesa on both her Bridal Shower and wedding with Simon. When we first met I could tell she had the creative touch, she loved entertaining and she loved creating special events in her mind, and she knew exactly how she wanted her special days to look and feel. With her bridal shower, Aneesa wanted it to embody the color terracotta, with hints of sage…together we worked on ideas and elements that would showcase the natural tones of an almost aged deep terracotta color accented with earthy hues and as many soft organic textures we could incorporate to help make the space feel like it could easily blend into the rocky backdrop of desert mountain …

Blocks of pink Himalayan salt were used as the table numbers, decor pieces in varying materials like stones and terracotta, natural woods like the custom-built fluted wood cake table and the rattan backdrop, coppers, structured and free-flowing dried blooms and greens that were the exact subdued moody colors I was envisioning, and the organically draped cheesecloth linens were the absolute perfect rich shade of terracotta and delicate texture atop each table. Yes, there were endless natural earthy textures that were used in the space that were embodied Aneesa’s vision.

There was also a subtle nod to different shapes, especially arches, with the seating chart custom designed with an arch, and the corresponding game cards for guests and table Menu cards to follow the same. Even the copper toned clips that secured the bridal shower games together with a sprig of fresh eucalyptus, was positioned so that is resembled an almost arch-like shape. We never wanted anyone detail to ever feel like it was overdone, and I think we certainly created that delicate balance.

And I may be bias, but aren’t the colors and centerpieces just about the prettiest for this season! Aneesa’s bridal shower was at the beginning of September, a time where summer still lingers and the Autumnal change has started to settled in. With the centerpieces, we wanted the mixture of fresh and dried blooms to be in the moodier shades of early Autumn, you know those trees or flowers that are the first to showoff their deeper and darker, I was envisioning a lush ikebana-style centerpiece with those colors and textures. I think we got that delicate floral moodiness just right, don’t you think?

Isn’t Sarah Churchill photography too good!! She beautifully captured every detail imaginable, like the handmade macrame coasters by Aneesa’s mothers placed in a wooden box and wrapped in velvet ribbon and tab in different colors to fit the vision, but also the gorgeous bride Aneesa and her beau Simon. I love how Sarah the day in each photo, every element so beautifully captured, even the simplest if details, well perhaps not the simplest, like the invitation set, custom designed to capture that lovely minimalist typography and terracotta hues, but made a bit more special as each was tied with sage thread and finished off with a sprig of a white dried bloom before being sealed. It was the first beautiful touch for Aneesa and Simon’s guests, who already knew they’d be in for a one-of-a-kind celebration!

And one can’t forget to mention Lady Lia’s beautiful and delicious cake! She perfectly mimicked the colors and subtle stone texture, creating the perfect base for a cluster of dried and silk blooms.

I certainly could go on and on about Aneesa’s bridal shower. What a creative treat it was to create so many of these custom pieces and bring her unique ideas to life.

I hope that it fills you with endless inspiration for you next celebration or holiday get-together!

Welcoming Spring w. a Disco Tea Party !!🌸🪩 Welcoming Spring w. a Disco Tea Party !!🌸🪩

If there was a “party theme” that best describes me, I think it would be this. A delicate explosion of psychedelic pastel blooms & pretty vintage tea cups, colorful retro glasses happily scattered amongst the disco ball reflections — ready to be filled w. the spirit you fancy best to sip & dance on the grass from sunset to moonrise to sunrise, as if at a Grand Ball, Woodstock or Studio54 …

This tablescape best showcases my love of all things 70’s; an era whose soul inspires me & is much of what I love … where delicate & wild flowers are flower power!

Then there’s the romantic at heart; who loves all things intricate vintage details, lush gardens, gilded affairs & tea parties brimming w. classical melodies.
