Where keeping disco alive! I didn’t have the intention of creating this much “70’s” related pieces, but I also never need a reason to create and be inspired by one of my favorite eras. And this pretty groovy two’s birthday from November, has patiently been waiting to be shared with you all! It’s always a delight to work with Luciana and her mom, and I was excited about this groovy celebration fit for a little flower child who lives for sunshine and flower power sunglasses, a girl after my own heart …
When first approaching the design for this party, I essentially viewed it as a party for my inner flower child. The 70s are definitely having their moment again, it’s one of those eras that have left, and continue, to leave a significant mark in our modern days, and yet is still a time we love revisiting. There are infinite unique ways to interpret this theme, but for this darling’s celebration I was inspired by the distinct muted colors from that time; the retro golden hues, mustard yellows, funky greens and love-filled rainbow pastels of a beautiful vibrant sunset. But the one piece that truly inspired this design, and made every other detail come together, were the centerpiece vessels brought from Portugal, traditional terracotta “barro” pieces with hand-painted details, that have always reminded me of crochet, another element quite common from that time.
The 70s — a time where the more mismatched the details, patterns, textures, shapes and colors were … the more perfect they became!
With disco balls, textured florals, varying shades of muted rainbow colors like the prettiest indescribable shade of golden table linens, rattan textures, daisies in every from, peace signs, teepees, ball pits and even a retro VW made a showing! This autumn day, an unexpectedly warm one where a few days prior we decided to take advantage of the weather and have it outdoors. And what a day a perfect setting it was for this intimate but fun celebration! The bright autumn sun vibrantly glistened off disco balls creating a lovely rainbow of details transporting us back to the Groovy 70’s …..

The flowers could not have been more of a dream, the colors like a bright golden desert sunset, perfectly as how I envisioned! The beautiful hodgepodge of colored vintage glassware, daisy pastels and floral imprinted ceramic plates, woven placemats, gold flatware and groovy candles made some “far out” tablescapes.
The Cake and Photo Display, were a rattan lover’s dream; an ode to all the lovely natural textures from the 70’s, balloons in ever darling color and even daisy shaped ones, disco balls and florals galore, and yes of course this groovy bash wasn’t complete with a fun VW bus cutout …..
