In design, trends come and go, then come back again, and again. Each return a reincarnation, a reinterpretation in a modern fresh way. And yet the design remains as timeless as ever before. We may not be driven by the ever-evolving trends we see within the design and wedding world — but every so often something “new” comes along that truly catches our eye. That of which reimagines classic formal details in a way that is excitingly delightful.
If you haven’t seen the floral basket beautifully carried by bridesmaids at weddings yet, well let us introduce you to this lovely modern romantic reinvention of the traditional structured bouquet. It’s a garden lovers’ dream, but in truth one can use baskets, wicker bags or other dainty containers with handles to create a truly one-of-a-kind wedding detail. Whether you’re incorporating the traditional the bridal party of bridesmaids, simply having your maid-of-honor by your side or going the contemporary route of wedding planning by having guests follow a dress code with a special honor to those closest to you … I assure you that floral baskets will make a statement!
Baskets can be thrifted and mismatched or perhaps dainty ones used for garden pickings. For the fashion lovers, with so many beautiful rattan and wicker handbag designs — what a great way to gift those special people with a new accessory, they’ll not only cherish on your special day, but whenever they pair it with an outfit in their everyday. And don’t limit this trend to just baskets or wicker bags, florals look exceptionally gorgeous and lux in a handbag, like this stunning styled shoot.
In these designs we chose two different floral looks, romantic and lush with garden blooms. The first, a monochromatic look using only daisies. Bundles of miniature daisies nestled with larger blooms, transform this dainty flower, often overlooked in weddings, to create a modern design.
Our second floral basket is an organic flow of Spring and Summer’s prettiest blooms; the classic and beloved flowers used in weddings and events. Garden roses, peachy blush Carnations, pops of vibrant Zinnias, Daisies and sprigs of Ivy and unique Lunaria.
Floral basket bouquets are not just for the garden lovers, I think they’d be the perfect way to display more avant-garde and structural flower designs like this.
When creating florals within baskets, or handbags, it’s important to work with its shape. Both in what others see, but also what you have to work with its interior. The other important element to consider when adding your flowers, is how it will be held and carried. Flowers will need to be well secured so as to not fall out, or move too much when the person carrying it, is walking, dancing and possibly bumping it into other items. The key in creating the shape, is to design it as if it’s an extension of the person adorning it.
With bridal floral baskets, blooms are placed within water tubes and nestled inside. This makes the flowers actually last longer and hold up a bit better than a bouquet out of water. To tie in the textures and colors of your wedding, delicately draped silk ribbon is the perfect final touch.
I‘ve become quite smitten with this design and can’t wait to see more weddings incorporate this element.
What do you think, are Floral Baskets the new timeless design?
