Portugal Travels on Film

March 6, 2025 · Leave a Comment

Looking through photographs of past travels, beautiful landscapes and intricate old architecture for inspiration of Spring creations…I realized I had never shared photographs I’ve taken in the last few years on my film camera. I first photographed and developed my first film in high school, but I have loved it long before. Always intrigued by the beauty of black and white, even if void of color. But I also grew up in the age where our only cameras were film, until digital and our phones became the norm. And yet, we’re all falling back in love more than ever with the beauty of analog and film.

I‘ve shared stories about each location previously, which you can find their links accordingly below. So for now, I hope you give yourself a moment to pause, enjoy these travel moments and go on a small journey…

*The color photographs were shot using Kodak Gold 200 and 400 for 35mm*

“To wonder is to be alive. To create wonder is to “To wonder is to be alive. To create wonder is to live.”

I can’t remember where I read this quote but it stuck with me, especially as we flow deeper into autumn.

I actually think the inspiration we connect with this season might be the most personal. We are all drawn differently to the complex textures and feelings autumn brings. And there’s is something quite wonderous when we create with the seasonal elements as they call us, especially when unexpected this time of year — whether it be in a color palette or style. It’s the art of presence in the everyday and embracing it in what we create and share with others…what a special thing that is🍃🌼

AUTUMN... the season of harvest, of preparing and AUTUMN...
the season of harvest, of preparing and easing into the colder months ahead...

but before then, we still gather the last of the garden’s gifts; the flowers and edible elements to cherish and preserve for shorter sunlit days that await us. When soon, we sink into a comfort illuminated by candles.....and yet the start of autumn never feels the same.

it can happen all at once when greens suddenly deepen and make space for the fiery reds, magnetic yellows and auburns are enveloped with a breeze that evokes the feeling of a new season. And yet, it can evolve ever so slowly, with greens remaining vibrant beneath the still sun intense, and it’s the distinctly bold but fleeting golden hour that reminds us that autumn has befallen us once more🍂

…styled moments from last year…
