Roasted Squash Seeds: Spiced 3 Ways

If you carved your jack-o-lanterns or cook squashes on a weekly basis, please please please don’t throw away those precious seeds! Cooler days call for comforting vegetables, including my favorites like acorn, butternut and spaghetti squash, which are loaded with plenty of seeds just waiting to be dressed in seasonings and roasted in the oven. Sweet or…

Healthy Baked Apple Chips

Apple Chips

It seems like I had myself an apple tasting one afternoon. I spent another beautiful fall morning at the farm picking apples and pumpkins, but the best part about going again is the abundance of many more varieties. There were endless rows of colorful Macintosh, Red Delicious, Golden Delicious that were still green, Macoon, and my…

Homemade Cardamom Applesauce

September 23, 2014 · 3 Comments

I just couldn’t stop myself from smelling the bubbling pot as apples cooked down to apple sauce. It just made me happy and smile. It made me look forward to Fall, a season I dread so much because of the cooler weather. With so many apples from our picking afternoon, I decided I needed to…

Heirloom Tomato Tart with Roasted Tomato Pesto

July 24, 2014 · 4 Comments

For me, there is no vegetable far superior than the tomato, especially in the summer when juicy plump heirloom variations are in abundance. I prefer them just right before their most ripest stage, when they are a vibrant red, that give with a slight squeeze, and can still be sliced into thick slices that melt in your mouth,. They posses an…

Spelt Waffles

February 27, 2014 · 16 Comments

I believe in quiet mornings and I believe in breakfast. And I mean serious breakfast, as in I enjoy a hearty but light meal, preferably sweet. Preferably the perfect blend of all my favorite flavors and nutritious ingredients for a well-balanced meal, that starts any day with happiness. Waffles are probably one of my favorite…

Rustic Stuffed Bread

Rustic Stuffed Bread

The dreary snow, has us seeking warmth and comfort indoors. Comforting smells that take me back to our tiny town in Portugal, where cloudy brisk days meant the smell of cracking wood ovens, and freshly baked bread. Traditionally, we save enough dough to make a few stuffed loaves, either with chorizo and presunto, codfish and onions,…

Seven days immersing ourselves in flowers🌿🌼 Conne Seven days immersing ourselves in flowers🌿🌼
Connecting in nature, amongst foraged magic all around a quiet Portuguese village. It could not have been more idyllic.
We learned, we experimented and were encouraged to create with our intuition.
With each passing day our confidence, authentically reblooming.
With every floral piece arranged, the more they organically reflected who we are, and our stories. Each one distinctly ours, and yet collectively coming together.

Because what joy it is to work with flowers, but even more so to do it alongside others and then share it with the world✨

Sharing some reflections about our floral lessons during @chelseafussflowers retreat on Substack...

There is a certain kind of quiet when August begin There is a certain kind of quiet when August begins its end. Unlike any other stillness experienced throughout the year, it’s a distinct calmness that reminds us of summer’s final phase, how soon, it will all begin to change. It’s a quiet noticed slowly in the subtleties of life, when we pause long enough to admire it. And we bask in it because of how incredibly fleeting it is…

Fully summering because there are cosmos, zinnias, marigolds and cutleaf coneflowers still blooming🌼☀️🌸

Posy...a small bunch of simple, sweet-smelling flowers, sometimes large enough to fit in a jar or as small as fitting a pin on a jacket.

Posies became popular during the Victorian era, where they cleverly used the language of flowers to discreetly convey their not-so-secret messages. Every flower and their placement in a posy had a specific meaning.
