Inspiring Words

It’s one week until Thanksgiving, and while most of us are busy worrying about finalizing menus, grocery shopping, and getting the house in top form to entertain loved ones, there are hundreds of families and people in food shelters escaping the bitter cold, in search of a comforting meal. I shared earlier this week…

Inspiring Words

I have quotes written and saved everywhere, from my phone, to post its, inspiration board, and planner. I was cleaning up over the weekend, and stumbled upon this quote from Kelly Ripa I scribbled down one morning watching Live with Kelly and Michael. Kelly Ripa is a female celebrity I look up to for her…

Pursuing Your Dream

September 12, 2014 · 4 Comments

When I first started this blog, it was a way to share my ideas and to express my creativity. I never thought it would help me discover what my dream would be. I’ve always had many passions, the kind of person that never said no to trying new things, and was always immersed in some sort…

Nostalgia

August 20, 2014 · 1 Comment

Do you ever get an intense feeling of nostalgia, where a certain smell or the weather takes you back to a certain moment or time in your life? This morning a cup of coffee took me back to my favorite coffee shop in Arizona, and drinking multiple pumpkin lattes, getting me through planning several large fundraisers. The morning…

I just cannot contain my excitement and happiness this week. At the moment, I’m en route to Lake George where I’m honored to be taking part in my best friend’s wedding. I can’t believe the day is finally here, and I can now stop dreaming of beautiful outdoor ceremonies like this, since I’ll be walking down the…

It’s in the Details

May 14, 2014 · 2 Comments

So, it’s been a long time since I’ve blown up, and I recently did on an innocent bystander working in the customer service industry. I let my emotions get the best of me, and coming from a customer service background, I can’t say I’m too proud of my actions. But I was bamboozled to say the least,…

The Next Chapter

November 21, 2013 · Leave a Comment

“We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” – Walt Disney These last few days here in Tucson, I’ve thought a lot about the past year. A lot can happen in that time period, a lot of decisions and choices, including…

Five Goals

November 1, 2013 · 1 Comment

A Beautiful Mess started this mini goal list back in 2010 as a fun way to stay inspired during the busiest season of the year. The “rules” are to choose simple goals that will make your life richer and happier on a daily basis. Do not choose result oriented goals; choose activity oriented goals, choose goals you believe will truly…

Fresh New Start

October 14, 2013 · Leave a Comment

There are times in your life when you know that the chapter has closed and it’s time to move on to something else. Most times it’s a new journey, often times we return to the all too familiar but with a fresh new outlook. For the past few days it has really felt that my…

We connect & interpret it in so many personal ways — some of us are drawn to the beauty in the soft muted tones, while others it’s the bright rich hues. Each view & approach, a special way of embracing color✨🌿🌈And I am here for all it!

Ikebana expresses strong emotions through its four principles of a fresh approach, movement, balance & harmony, while highlighting its three elements; line, color & mass.

Ikebana designs use fewer stems that are intentionally arranged to reflect the balance of opposing elements. Ikebana floral art is a reflection of the person creating it & its evolving story.”

This year I’m challenging myself each month to create a design. Whether it be a centerpiece or tablescape, I want to expand & challenge my creativity, skills & ever-flowing ideas. It’s a perfect way for me to create for the sake of creating while inspiring you with joyful pieces & help others see unlikely designs with a new perspective.

I was naturally drawn to the traditional artform of Ikebana, for it takes the simplest elements & transforms them into designs that evoke an immense emotion. For me there is so much power & beauty in that, but also why I think it’s not as understood or appreciated as elaborate floral designs.

I stumbled upon this forgotten small blue & white dish, thought how perfect it would be to capture the story of “Winter Blues” — not the sadness of the bitter season, but the emotion of a fresh clean slate where Nature is bare, minimal & calm, yet open to all the possibilities of the unknown … using a few sprigs of Blue Thistle & the inspiration of Ikebana intentions, this tiny delight was made💙

I still think of all the intentional details from this romantic affair, like the unexpected color palette & vintage pieces, that brought so much warmth to a winter’s day…Wishing Thainara & Jose happy 2nd anniversary🧡
