Place Setting 101 : Semi Formal Table

November 17, 2016 · 1 Comment

Semi Formal Into .pngThanksgiving is exactly one week away! Yes, you heard me right, seven days from now we will be gathering with loved ones to celebrate the holiday of gratitude. While others excitedly anticipate the food and football, I’m looking forward to simply enjoying this special day with my family, and be thankful for them. Because man, 2016 has been rough on us all. So let’s continue our stress-free holiday planning with the final installment of our Place Setting 101 series. Place Setting 101 : Semi Formal Table | Dreamery EventsYou’ve got your menu scheduled, grocery lists made, centerpiece and decor in check, all that’s left to do now is await the big day of cooking, and uncork some wine when guests arrive. Yes, that is already a lot to take in and do, which is why setting the table is often overlooked. But it is everyone’s gathering place, no matter how formal or casual your Thanksgiving. Place Setting 101 : Semi Formal Table | Dreamery Events Personally a semi formal place setting is my go-to for holiday parties. It’s just a bit more special than a casual setting, and not as complicated as a formal one. Of course, unless you’re hosting the President or Queen, I’ll be the first to tell you that breaking certain place setting rules are totally allowed – place cards draped from a drinking glass or mismatched china, these are the unique touches that will make your holiday table stand out. Regardless, knowing this basic and versatile table setting is essential for anyone. Place Setting 101 : Semi Formal Table | Dreamery EventsA semi formal, or informal, setting includes : a dinner plate, a smaller salad plate {if using} placed atop, two forks on the left, a knife and spoon on the right, a wine and water glass above the knife and spoon, and a napkin. Not pictured, a dessert spoon above the plate with the handle facing the right side. Setting up dessert utensils saves you time when bringing out the sweet course, and you’re not scrambling to make sure everyone has something to eat their dessert with. Place Setting 101 : Semi Formal Table | Dreamery Events Ever wonder why drinking glasses are placed on the right side? Well, hundreds of years ago when place setting etiquette was established, the majority of the population was right-handed, so it stuck. Place Setting 101 : Semi Formal Table | Dreamery EventsIf you’re putting bread and butter on the table, it’s for everyone, so no need for individual bread and butter plates and knives. Let’s save some time and energy and not bother with washing more utensils than we need to!

Here’s a Tip…If you still can’t get using utensils from the ‘outside in’ method, picture the word “FORKS.” F for ‘forks’ is on the left, while K and S for ‘knife’ and ‘spoon,’ are on the right. And ALWAYS set your knife with the blade facing toward the plate.img_5138Place Setting 101 : Semi Formal Table | Dreamery Events

I love everything about entertaining. Flowers are my weakness, a slice of homemade pie makes my heart sing & I’m a sucker for wedding videos. Travel is a constant source of inspiration and motivation. I dream about these things, it’s true. But what I love most, is working with amazing people to create meaningful & unique celebrations…..

Mondays certainly don’t get enough love, I perso Mondays certainly don’t get enough love, I personally find it to be one of the most productive days of the workweek, but it’s a day that is also slower than the rest...

I start Mondays slower than others — light incense, open my windows wide to let the fresh air in, meditate, play beautiful music...
There are a few Mondays I truly love where I get inspired to create while others I ride the winter slow sun & let my thoughts be put into written word!

I have a beautiful romantic styling coming this week, plus a few more travels around Serra’s outdoor beauty & even a batch of new yummy recipes. I really like when I’m inspired to create & write again🤍🌿📝
Woke up feeling a bit more hopeful & lighter after Woke up feeling a bit more hopeful & lighter after yesterday’s historic day. change won’t happen all at once, there is much to work on...
but for the first time in some time,
I know many are easing up those tense shoulders
& releasing a big deep breathe of relief...

it’s okay to feel good
about releasing all the energy
from the last four years,
we deserve to celebrate
letting go of that...but I do feel
this overall newfound sense of hope,
of inspiration, of drive, motivation,
one we haven’t felt in sometime,
a sigh of relief, that at least,
we’re taking the first steps
to expand & better the days ahead for all🌾🧡✨

Her 3rd birthday may not be as big as her “Some Bunny is 1” or “Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles” celebrations but her loved ones are sure to make her special day “Berry Sweet”🍓🌸
E X P A N S I O N — "the act or process of expan E X P A N S I O N — "the act or process of expanding"💫

this year I choose to expand on the
lessons last year served us...
I expand upon all my visions, dreams & intentions
I aim to expand on love, abundance, health, joy, comfort, courage, creativity, adventure, calm, authenticity, w.e big or small that makes my soul sing & thus expand upon my growth.
But I wholeheartedly hope that this year can help others expand on all the good things they want as well -- especially in global terms🤍

I haven't set resolutions in years, instead I always set intentions -- little things that become part of who I am & in turn become the steps to bring all those images I'm inspired by, into life in my own way.

I'm simplifying even more & stripping it down, choosing to always show myself, & others,
more Grace. I quite enjoy this slow but intentional path. Yes, embracing a fresh new start seems appealing, but there’s much uncertainty still to face & we have a whole year ahead of us.

There’s time to get it done so no need to rush into it...show yourself & others some grace, be a Kind human always, because anything can happen✨
