Wedding Inspiration : The “New” Veil

March 8, 2017 · Leave a Comment

Wedding Inspiration : The "New" Veil | Dreamery EventsAfter the big day is all said and celebrated, there’s few things brides regret but once they look back on their beautiful photos, most wish they hadn’t skipped on a special veil. After all, it’s one of the few days in your life you can get away with wearing an ornate headpiece or vintage veil.  really one of the only days in your life you can get away with wearing one!

In recent years, the emergence of bespoke bridal accessory shop has defintely  grown. The only downfall, it gives brides an even harder choice between endless stunning choices that are beyond your simple tulle veil. I’m not even going to touch on flower crowns because they’re in their own spectrum of bridal headpieces. Modern brides are finally rejoicing with so many chic and minimalist pieces that aren’t too busy for their taste, and boho babes are celebrating crystals and “free spirit” headbands.

A major part of completing your bridal look really comes down to the perfect accessories and these days weddings trends are allowing brides to step outside the norm of tradition and showcasing their unique style. With so many pretty bridal hair accessories, I had to round up some of the biggest trends for the “new” wedding veil and share some of my favorites.

Let's talk what really makes a Victorian holiday.. Let's talk what really makes a Victorian holiday...did you know many of our Christmas decor & traditions are directly from Queen Victoria's reign. A maximalist aesthetic rich in jewel tones that incorporated many elements already on hand & found in nature🎄🎀

What are the key design elements of a Victorian inspired Christmas....

- Christmas Trees. Prince Albert popularized it from his childhood in Germany. These trees were adorned w. candles, sweets, fruits, small gifts & handmade paper chains
- Ribbons!! There's a reason ribbons were a popular for the holidays, they were affordable & easily made from fabric remnants. They’re a Victorian signature
- Fresh Greenery. Beautiful mantels & bookshelves lined w. fragrant evergreens come from a time where embracing seasonal nature was the norm
- Candles! There’s nothing more magical than the flicker of candlelight. Original trees were decorated w. real candles. Thankfully we can now use electric candles to adorn ours
- Indoor decorations. Holiday home decor we love was almost all handmade! I think it's why so many are drawn to this aesthetic. Greens tied w. ribbons, mistletoe balls & wreaths hung, paper decor all carefully made
- Stockings were popularized, but mostly kept simple w. embroidered names
- Simple Intentional Gifts. Christmas wasn't for elaborate gifts, it was a time to gift fruits, nuts, sweets & small handmade trinkets. Games, dolls, books, apples, oranges & nuts were most popular
- Decorative Food, for eating & decorating. Oranges adorned w. ribbons & whole cloves became beautifully popular pomanders. Christmas fruit cake, mulled wine, sugar plums -- all Victorian staples still adorning our tables & comforting our souls
- Christmas Cards. Christmas Crackers. Handblown Glass Ornaments...all holiday traditions we still take part in, all from a time long ago

❌DONTS for a Victorian Christmas....
- Colorful Lights
- Snowflakes
- Jolly Santa...Victorian Christmases depict a less merry, slenderer St. Nicholas in a long robe often in white, green or blue✨
Tie a bow on it! There hasn’t been a bow or fabr Tie a bow on it! There hasn’t been a bow or fabric ribbon delicately tied that I haven’t been smitten with. And yes, bows are everywhere. Last year’s holiday table was a gathering of cherished family heirlooms, timeless design details that have forever imprinted in our present, the invigorating calm scents & textures of the winter season that set the scene for simple magic✨🎁

A little minimalist, very much nature driven & a t A little minimalist, very much nature driven & a touch old world....the itch for a Victorian inspired holiday table was already blooming last year🎀

Despite what social media & what others may pressure you into believing, you do not need to buy new holiday decor. Bring out the fancy stuff, make something handmade & heartfelt. I’m a firm believer in finding joy in the things we already have, making new traditions with the old, creating simple but immensely special details that become cherished memories❄️
