A Wallpaper Accent Wall with Photowall

A lover of all things from another time in history, withered details that evoke an aged beauty and tell a story — it makes me so happy to see all the love textured walls that resemble plaster, peeling wallpaper and paint that has withstood the time, has been getting these days. Some are lucky to uncover these beautiful walls in their home, others use their creative skills to paint this intricately simple look, while others achieve this gorgeous home design detail through Wallpaper!

Wallpaper has come a long way since the lackluster floral and striped prints. These days wallpaper is bold, subtle, delicate, realistic and everything in between … and I’m here for all of it! It’s funny, as someone whose father is a professional painter, who has long detested the task of removing wallpaper, I always curled my nose at ever incorporating it into future home designs. But that was until now, when the possibilities to create and design with wallpaper should be a requirement. It’s a simple and lovely way to add texture and visual intrigue to your home in a personal unique way. When Photowall, reached out wanting to collaborate on another project, I didn’t hesitate and was excited to get my hands on one of their lovely wallpapers to achieve that withered/plaster wall look I love so much!

Photowall is a Swedish wallpaper and art company with a mission to help people transform their home into one that reflects their personality. I loved working with Photowall last year on this custom frame of a favorite photo from Ireland, and knew their products were high quality, along with their service. Now the challenge was to pick just one wallpaper design from the endless prints, designs, and colors they offer from over 100 talented designers.

And for someone who aims to make sustainable choices as much as possible, Photowall too, aims to be environmentally conscious by making products only to order to avoid excess amount of products being stored or thrown out if not sold. The wallpaper printing ink contains no solvents or hazardous chemicals, and is biodegradable, which for me and I know many others, is an important factor when bringing things into their home.

Now to my lovely wallpapered wall … I decided to go with the Vista – Sand print from designer Summer House, a South African, multi-design studio of illustrators, artists, photographers and designers whose designs are subtly colorful, modern and personal.

I love that this design evokes that simplistic beauty of plastered or wallpaper peeled walls. The soft colors ranging from grays to blushes, transition beautifully into slightly darker mauves and charcoals. The watercolor-like blend of colors is both mesmerizing and soothing — exactly what I wanted for a small wall in my office. It adds a soft pop to my creative space, lending itself gorgeously as the backdrop of future stylings and creative projects.

It may seem like such a tiny detail, but a wallpapered accent wall, even one with the most subtle of designs and colors, can make a big impact in any space! Whenever I look at this corner, I’m filled with ideas and excitement of things to create, but also grounded. In fact, I was truly drawn toward this specific print because it reminded so much of nature … that soft pastel dusky sky, the delicate hues in blooming flowers, the hard-to-describe textures and colors of rock formations. It’s imperfectly colored to perfection!

If you’ve never put up wallpaper, then the biggest piece of advice I can give you is to have a helping hand, even if you plan on doing a small wall. It’s much easier and more efficient when someone is assisting. The last thing you want is for your wallpaper strips to not create a seamless design or have imperfections. It’s also not a project to attempt to get done spur of the moment or rushed, hanging up wallpaper is a project that requires the time and attention.

Photowall does offers a very informative how to video that walks you through exactly how to put up your wallpaper, making it even easier for first-timers. It was quite easy to put it up and it’s forgiving, even for this gal who has a difficult time creating straight lines sometimes 😉

I’ve never been one to connect with the color pu I’ve never been one to connect with the color purple much, & yes I believe everyone connects to colors in certain ways. And yet, Clematis are some of my favorite flowers🌿

For a brief few Spring days each year, the garden is a vision of purples....deep rich violets that almost look black, their sheen like velvet, delicate lavenders & pretty mauves that flutter in the breeze. Nature is a true delight for the soul🤍

They’re calling for a too hot, too soon kind of weekend, but we’ll be surrounded w. love celebrating a special wedding at a lovely location! Hope this weekend brings you moments of rest & joy, that allow you to look at all that is blooming🌱…
tiny joyous things🌿 ... I try not to lose sight tiny joyous things🌿 ... I try not to lose sight of the fact I get to create & "work" w. beautiful flowers; one of the things I love so much & one of the joyful parts of creating & sharing my work w. others. But this whole social media thing is weird right, the world is weird & broken right now -- as creatives seems like are new age question is "do I post this pretty picture when this is really happening right now?! but it's also kind of my job to put my work out there for others to see, right?!" ... but I’m learning, funny enough, by some inspiring women on this platform, it's ok to feel all these things while also sharing the joyous, cool & helpful things we are all working on, creating & hoping to bring into this world. Life is filled w. beautiful & sad moments, happiness, joy, grief, fear, doubt, love. All the tiny things🤍

& if anyone watched last night's This is Us, how beautiful was their telling of one's final moments, looking back at life. Ugh my heart😢
There’s one word to describe the first full even There’s one word to describe the first full event of the season…ethereal🤍

Event season is in full swing & it’s nice to finally step aside from planning to bring all the ideas, time & details to life!
“We are like {blossoms}; holding on, letting go, “We are like {blossoms}; holding on, letting go, rising & falling into our weathered souls…” - Angie Weiland-Crosby🌼

May is the start of a busy few months of events, so I’m going to make sure I prioritize Rest whenever I can. But also plenty of garden days, living & cherishing simple moments — because when the busy days will feel like a blur or the state of the world (big/small) only adds to the mental drain, I know these will be the things that keep me going🤍
