If there is one color palette I have styled the most with my clients, and that has become one of the most popular for event design, it’s green and white. It’s a color scheme that is classic and a natural neutral, lending itself well to any event from a birthday to its most preferred, a wedding. A nature lover can transform their event into lush affair brimming with flowers and greens found in a bountiful garden. While a minimalist pair can keep things modern and sleek by incorporating black, straight lines, glass or marble detailing. The green and white details featured below, work well for showers, like bridal or baby, and children celebrations.
An olive theme that incorporates the dark tones of greens, with the intention of highlighting olive branches. A nature forward occasion showcasing the varying hues within an olive branch, the focal foliage used throughout. Small Olive Trees displayed on a rustic wood ladder, served as guest favors that were finished off with wax seal and watercolor calligraphy tags, as table cards.
Painted acrylic signs with gold calligraphy, were the darkest shade of green used, with the soft tabletop linens and napkins showcasing the evolving green story. Tablescapes also included light green vintage inspired glassware, mixed gold and glass tapers of soft green candles paired along natural materials like woven placemats and terracotta clay squares as table numbers.
Arrangements of white roses, ranunculus, other wild blooms and endless greens like olive branches, queen Anne’s lace, lemon leaf and ferns, were arranged in aged metal compotes. Other pieces draped along a gold frame which became a photo backdrop, as foliage installations draped the mimosa bar. A drink bar featuring a signature drink is a fun addition to any celebration.
Olive Inspired Baby Shower
Stationery is a great element to help tell your design vision. Here the acrylic pieces were the standout greens, chalkboards kept details playful and rustic, as the personal stationery set atop each place setting carried out the strong delicateness of an olive branch.
Venues play an important part in showcasing your event’s style. Where bricks served as a main element throughout this space, rustic wood crates and lanterns were kept minimal, as white linens and furniture pieces added that clean brightness.
When is comes to entertainment and activities at showers, we’re veering towards a simpler way of having fun. Effortless tabletop cards promote connection with guests or became a cherished keepsake for mama or bride to be. Another great activity that requires a simple setup, such as a single large chalkboard where guests guess the baby’s birthdate, or others that have guests take photographs. Inviting a small group of kids to your events? Coloring is a no-fail pastime. For a baby shower, setting out pages with ABC’s and corresponding themed images, can then be used as a storybook for baby. For a wedding related event, having booklets with word-search or floral images to color in, work perfectly.
Dark Green, White, Gold & Gray Italian Inspired Wedding
For this green and white wedding, we incorporated simple details all inspired by Italy, where the couple had met. A sophisticated gray table linen and lemons placed amongst the greens cascading along each table.
A mirror with custom calligraphy served as the welcome sign, but in this case we choose a round shape which was styled with candlelight. A copper frame woven with hanging dark green ribbons and table lists, transformed into a minimalist but modern seating chart display. Styled with even more natural forest greens and candlelight, it helped create an intimate ambiance within the large venue space.
Each place setting topped with a menu card, was also styled with gold cutouts of each guest’s name; a personal touch from the bride and groom.
The cake, a sleek white tiered delight, made special with speckles of gold leaf. As a fun and unique guest book, loved ones signed their name, along a short note, onto wooden Jenga pieces. It’s a game the couple enjoy playing with friends, which became a cherished keepsake from their wedding. As a nod to their love of coffee, a rustic display of woods, greens and lanterns was the perfect setting for the favor coffee bags that had all been hand-tied with a duo of spoons.
There are so many ways one can style and design a simple green and white. And this celebration was a perfect example of how to incorporate varying elements that can help tell one’s unique love story.
Sage Green & Gold Watercolor Inspired First Holy Communion
Sage greens, as seen in the party below, are also great for boy parties like a 1st birthday, christening, communion or other milestone. It may seem as too delicate of a color, but it’s that softness that works perfectly for little boys. One can incorporate their favorite animals or storybook. It’s where you can get creative with centerpieces too, focusing more on the greens and foliage, perhaps even using tropical stems.
In this event, against the softness of sage cheesecloth runners, we added modern acrylic table numbers. While the cake and dessert table draped in garlands of fresh greenery, used displays of classic whites as to let the detailed desserts become the spotlight.
