The bitterness of winter’s cold darkness makes the space to creatively challenge ourselves. When one could easily buy blooms most often not in season, but it’s the thrill of creating floral art that pushes us outside our comfort. Outside of the well expected. To continue to learn and expand how a season of bareness allows one to lose all creative inhibitions. In the stillness of winter, we go inward, we gain the wisdom and thus make art that becomes a reflection of the season itself. A serene moment that warms us with delight amongst the chill in the air and the romance of snowfall.
One could interpret this table as a floral snow cloud. As the candles flicker, the white dainty sprigs of baby’s breath as if blooming from the melting wax. The softness of the season, the focused intention. Delicate tulle wrapped in lush bows as if they too bloom from within the flowers. A modern lux way to design that is still as organic and natural as the winter season befits.

The inspiration for this table styling is to celebrate winter’s serene softness and the calm it brings — instead of its bareness and lack of color. We highlight all the color, textures and flow it does possess. Using baby’s breath versatility that ebbs and flows from delicate to modern, remnants of tulle fabric, velvet textured linens, candles with artfully dripped wax that only hours of burning can naturally create. As always the elements in this styling are all reused and repurposed, and the floral mechanics sustainable….continue reading below how you can achieve this look yourself…..

MATERIALS NEEDED
- Chicken/Floral Netting
- Baby’s Breath {about 1 bunch wholesale or 5 small store bought bouquets}
- Floral + Wire Cutters {Gardening Glove for Safety}
- Floral Wire
- Candles, of choice
- Fabrics, of choice

TO CREATE THIS STYLING
First set your table linens of choice, the longer the better to create that naturally lush flow dripping from the table edge.
With garden gloves for safety, cut the chicken/floral netting with the wire cutters — a piece large enough to create a cylinder to your desired size. I suggest a size slightly larger than the center of the table. Pinch both ends of the wire cylinder to enclose and prevent any sharp edges.
For a modern organic technique, mold your cylinder asymmetrically. Adding height on one end, and then slightly again about 3/4 along the way.
Begin adding in your baby’s breath stems, starting on the end you’d like to make your tallest, as seen here on the left in these pictures. I like to create my base shape first, then will go in at the end filling in gaps and adding volume. Going along with the flow of your wire piece, continue adding the baby’s breath stems in different heights. The key is to make it look as organic as you can, as if naturally blooming — the smaller the stems and monotone the height, the more compact your design becomes.
Work along the piece, adding in floral stems that delicately fall onto the table. As you reach the opposite end of the wire cylinder, create a bit more height — just not as tall as your highest or mid points.
For depth, add different candles from pillars to tapers in varying heights. And for added whimsy, use fabric remnants like tulle to create hand-tied bows that can be nestled within the florals and candles. It’s a unexpected element that adds even more softness in a modern lux.

Winter came and painted a moment of serene stillness, of snowflakes that appeared as if floating flower petals.
Billows of delicate tulle romance the chill of bare skies.
The candle light flicker brings warmth around the table, and in our hearts.
Amidst the quiet, dreams arise…..

**This styling was created as inspiration and fine art design, never light candles within flowers and leave unattended. These elements are never secure enough to be safe for large gatherings, the melting wax and smoke can set a fire and cause serious damage!**
