Pecan Pie Style Candied Walnuts

December 5, 2014 · 3 Comments

Pecan Pie Style Candied Walnuts I’m sharing this quick recipe because you’ll want to make it now so it’s ready for the cookie recipe I’ll be sharing on Monday. But seriously walnuts candied to taste like the beloved pecan pie? How can you pass that up!Pecan Pie Style Candied Walnuts These carmelized walnuts smelled so good cooking in sugar – nutty and decadent. What gives pecan pie its distinct flavor is molasses which I added into browned butter and rum, which deepens the flavors and makes them even more delicious.  Pecan Pie Style Candied Walnuts You’ll want to snack on these frozen nut clusters as I did. They’re sinfully delicious, an overload of nut goodness. I loved it, but what I loved even more was not feeling sick, like I often feel after eating regular candied nuts which is made with granulated sugar, instead of agave which I decided to swap for. Seriously I want to eat these walnuts all day long, top them on everything. You wouldn’t even know that they’re not even made with regular sugar, and for more healthy swaps see chart here.  Pecan Pie Style Candied Walnuts It’s the perfect combination of deep flavors that remind you of pecan pie, that become a delicious crunchy and nutty candy. Pecan Pie Style Candied Walnuts Pecan Pie Style Candied Walnuts

Pecan Pie Style Candied Walnuts

Ingredients

9 ounces – Walnuts {coarsely chopped}

1/3 cup  – Unsalted Butter

2 tablespoons – Rum or Bourbon

1/2 cup – Pure Maple Syrup {can be substituted with Honey or Agave}

1/4 cup – Unsulfered Molasses

1 teaspoon – Pure Vanilla Extract

Pinch Coarse Salt

Recipe {Makes 10 ounces}

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and set aside.

In a medium saute pan, brown the butter, cooking over a medium heat until it foams up and smells nutty. Remove from heat, and stir in the rum and salt. Return pan back to heat, whisking in the molasses, maple syrup, and vanilla. Bring to a quick boil. Reduce to low heat and add in the walnuts. Cook, stirring, until liquid has absorbed {about 8 to 9 minutes}.

Spread nuts evenly onto the prepared baking sheet, and cool completely. Place the sheet into the freezer, until caramelized walnuts are hard. Remove and break into coarsely chopped pieces {you can either use a food processor or crush with a rolling pin and plastic bag. Keep crushed walnut pieces in frozen until ready to use into your cookies. If eating caramelized walnuts fresh, keep in an airtight container.

    […] If you haven’t noticed I totally forget the nuts, something I realized only once I was editing these photos last week, when this ice cream has been long gone from our freezer. Thankfully I can calm my cravings when I make this ice cream again for Thanksgiving, and this time with these candied walnuts. Dreamery Headshot_2020

I love everything about entertaining. Flowers are my weakness, a slice of homemade pie makes my heart sing & I’m a sucker for wedding videos. Travel is a constant source of inspiration and motivation. I dream about these things, it’s true. But what I love most, is working with amazing people to create meaningful & unique celebrations…..

Woke up feeling a bit more hopeful & lighter after Woke up feeling a bit more hopeful & lighter after yesterday’s historic day. change won’t happen all at once, there is much to work on...
but for the first time in some time,
I know many are easing up those tense shoulders
& releasing a big deep breathe of relief...

it’s okay to feel good
about releasing all the energy
from the last four years,
we deserve to celebrate
letting go of that...but I do feel
this overall newfound sense of hope,
of inspiration, of drive, motivation,
one we haven’t felt in sometime,
a sigh of relief, that at least,
we’re taking the first steps
to expand & better the days ahead for all🌾🧡✨
This week may have been a lot but at least it ende This week may have been a lot but at least it ended w. pretty flowers for little Adelaide! Her 3rd birthday may not be as big as her “Some Bunny is 1” or “Peppa Pig Muddy Puddles” celebrations but her loved ones are sure to make her special day “Berry Sweet”🍓🌸
E X P A N S I O N — "the act or process of expan E X P A N S I O N — "the act or process of expanding"💫

this year I choose to expand on the
lessons last year served us...
I expand upon all my visions, dreams & intentions
I aim to expand on love, abundance, health, joy, comfort, courage, creativity, adventure, calm, authenticity, w.e big or small that makes my soul sing & thus expand upon my growth.
But I wholeheartedly hope that this year can help others expand on all the good things they want as well -- especially in global terms🤍

I haven't set resolutions in years, instead I always set intentions -- little things that become part of who I am & in turn become the steps to bring all those images I'm inspired by, into life in my own way.

I'm simplifying even more & stripping it down, choosing to always show myself, & others,
more Grace. I quite enjoy this slow but intentional path. Yes, embracing a fresh new start seems appealing, but there’s much uncertainty still to face & we have a whole year ahead of us.

There’s time to get it done so no need to rush into it...show yourself & others some grace, be a Kind human always, because anything can happen✨

Adeus 2020... It‘ll be impossible to forget you, Adeus 2020...
It‘ll be impossible to forget you, you broke us, but you also reminded us how we resilient we are. Your chapter is closed, good riddance!!

Ironically my word for 2020 was “Bliss” yet despite all the grief, the heartbreak + emotional rollercoaster I think all of us, although at times hard, did see the silver linings this past year brought. Personally, I realized early on the immense amount of Bliss that was already present in my life, perhaps more so if this year wasn’t what it was.

No, there weren’t Big Blissful moments or travels, but there was so many moments to enjoy the simple pleasures of every day. More time in the garden, a newfound excitement in the kitchen, endless cloud gazing — birdsong listening — butterfly + dragonfly catching — soothing sunsets + always stopping to smell the roses moments. Blissful moments to create whatever it was I felt like doing, moments to appreciate what truly matters in life + what of that is what always needs to be present in life. The chance to escape in the safety of nature + loved ones. The blissful opportunity to rest, to mentally wander, to learn what stillness really is.

I gave myself grace this year & a well deserved pat on the back, & I really hope you did the same!! As I sail into 2021 I remember just how important all these moments are for growth + Expansion…

Things won’t change right away but all I can wish for all of us in 2021 is abundance, health, unity, joy & Love🤍🤍
