“For man, Autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together … For Nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.” — Edwin Way Teale
What a beautiful thing to see my long love of food styling intertwined into the world of event design like never before! Whether it be a freshly made pie, special meal, appetizer, entree or dessert display at a wedding; styling edible elements have always been as important aspect when designing events. It’s as if we’re creating still life paintings, in our everyday.
It’s the way a dish can catch one’s eye before its delicious scents, helping to create a memory that truly lingers. Using seasonal fruits and vegetables in the very core of a design, can transform a feast into one captivating every one of our senses. The beauty of natural elements is far beyond florals; fresh produce rich in color and texture, deserve to be celebrated.
But my favorite part is that every element is a sustainable way of styling. Whether it be for you to then turn into a meal, share with guests to take home, or even vendors — these decor elements foster longevity.

With Quinces currently at their loveliest autumnal prime, in this design they become the perfect structural centerpiece. As a contemporary way of styling florals and food items, we not only use whole fruits, but also incorporate it in different shapes. Halves can serve as the base to add in fresh or dried stems, as well as a tower of edible elements mesmerizing the eye. For a moodier color palette, the vibrant green yellow flesh of the quinces were paired with black smoke glass and vintage ceramics.
Don’t overlook the power of small details, the little things create a big impact and enhance the overall atmosphere creating an unforgettable experience. Small seasonal textures add visual intrigue and depth to a table — add in nuts, small twigs, warm colored candles and organic linens.
In this styled shoot, we intentionally displayed various edible pieces as the focal styling. Both to tell a story through design, and create a menu meant to be savored.
