d’Anjou Pear + Marmelade Tart

October 21, 2019 · Leave a Comment

d'Anjou Pear + Marmelade Tart

I confess, I much prefer a pear tart over any form of a pear pie. The thinly baked slices of honey like pear, often layered atop a thing layer of the seasonal jam of choice, the mid autumn, well into winter, it’s Marmalade. I quite like Quince marmalade, particularly when it’s homemade, and even better…

6 Unique Pie Crusts to Impress Your Guests

November 16, 2016 · 1 Comment

Whether it’s apple, pumpkin or pecan, pie is the quintessential fall dessert especially for  Thanksgiving. But just because the flavors are classic flavors, doesn’t mean pies have to look the same every year. These days there are so many beautiful lattice pies and ones decorated with seasonal leaves all over the Internet. Lovely golden strips of pastry, cut into so many different…

Easter Brunch Recipe Round Up

Panettone Espresso French Toast

Easter is this Sunday. Do you have family traditions you do together each year? For my family, we head to church in the morning then to my godparent’s home for brunch or lunch. It’s just a simple day with the family for us. In Portugal we don’t dye eggs or have fun Easter egg hunts, chocolate and fun…

Pistachio Ice Cream

February 23, 2016 · 2 Comments

I love pistachio ice cream, but good pistachio ice cream. You know the kind that tastes like eating pistachios, not one made with the fake stuff that leave that weird taste in your mouth. Call me a purist, but I just don’t like artificial flavors, especially in ice cream, where ingredients should be simple and naturally good. If…

Salted Ale Caramel Apple Pie

It’s been pretty busy around these parts. I feel like the holidays usually are, but they’ve been even more so for me this year. Between starting to work on a few handmade holiday gifts, actually shopping for others, finalizing decor for a winter wonderland party, and baking lots of cookie for gifts boxes, oh and…

How was your Thanksgiving weekend? Was it spent with loved ones, are you still recovering from the overload of food. I’m sure you don’t want another recipe, but this one has nothing to do with any leftovers that may still be lingering. This is another classic recipe, the kind of classic recipe that can be…

Mascarpone Ice Cream

Mascarpone Ice Cream

Guys, I’ve been so busy lately, that I made this ice cream and almost completely forgot to photograph it to share with you. So I found a few minutes before tasks throughout the day to quickly plate up a piece of leftover Tiramisu from my birthday, with a heaping spoonful of this rich creamy velvety…

This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chriss This Soba Tom Yum Noodle dish, inspired by @chrissyteigen recipe wouldn’t be considered traditional but it does celebrate the beautiful Thai flavors I love. I’ll take all the spice & lemongrass please🍜😋!! It’s certainly become a staple of mine, one I’ve recreated several times & I highly recommend you save in your back pocket because it will leave you craving more...& more!!

I used to post lots of recipes on the blog ‘til weddings/events/design took center stage & hoping to do so more again. Get this recipe on the blog now!
I read something yesterday, that made me instantly I read something yesterday, that made me instantly stop & reflect..."Some people think that having Hope makes you naive, but in my mind, it's so much harder to choose Hope over being angry or frustrated..." As someone who considers herself quite a hopeful person, I've had this on my mind since. Let's not confuse Hope w. toxic positivity {in which negative feelings or hardships are pushed aside}, when there is Hope, we still acknowledge our worries, the drawbacks of life, the sadness but still know that there is good.

We've all been doing our best nearing a year into this pandemic; the lives lost, families broken, the uncertain long-term issues, jobs, livelihoods disrupted & most recently too many people to count, struggling after a natural disaster. My heart breaks & is w. all of you, but despite the darkness, what I've also seen during these trying times...is Hope & Love. Communities & strangers coming together to help one another however way they can, even when they too are struggling to get by. That right there, is Hope. Be gentle with yourself, be gentle w. those around you. We’re all doing the best we can🤍
Finding it a bit hard to stay positive today…in Finding it a bit hard to stay positive today…in truth the state of our planet weighs heavily on me daily, but especially these last few days knowing that millions of people are struggling to have the basic necessities of staying warm & having running water in their own home. It’s baffling. But this is the sad reality that we have created as humans. Decades of corporations, governments & leaders choosing profits over the value & quality of human life & of every living organism necessary to make our ecosystems thrive.

No, not the happiest of posts, but it’s honesty. We have created the rise in repeated natural disasters, pandemics & rare diseases. And until we hold these people accountable & collectively make drastic changes, then we will continue to have these in more severe cases — so yes, more diseases, more crazy things happening to our environment & the places we love. We have created this change & it’s severely impacted every facet of our lives & future.

My heart is w. everyone struggling right now, because this shouldn’t be happening. Please stay safe, check on your neighbors & loved ones. Help however way you can🤍
For many of us, Travel is very much etched into ev For many of us, Travel is very much etched into every fiber of our being. Travel makes us who we are, it brings life to our soul...

So my fellow travelers at heart, how have you soothed that part of you that feels put on pause?

I’ve been watching a lot international series, read plenty of travel publications & naturally find myself looking back at old photos, turning those memories into videos & reliving those moments...like a Sunday afternoon discovering Poço da Broca in the Serra Da Estrela🌱
If you need to mentally travel, see more of this lovely spot on the blog now!!
